The Coalition supports community-based activism and grassroots leadership development through a number of avenues, all of which support citizens in addressing classism, racism, and marginalization in their own lives and communities.
As a doctoral student and non-profit leader who is actively working to understanding, address and advocate for minorities in education, I’m extremely excited about this opportunity.

We would like to congratulate Jakari Brown of Alexandria for being our 3rd Scholarship Recipient of the Let Her Rise Program.
"Jakari was enthusiastic, engaged and determined to make the most of this experience. She engaged with her peers and even was afforded the opportunity to apply her knowledge this summer as she attended Southern for a summer bridge program. She was attentive and asked questions pertaining to her experience while in undergraduate school at Southern but also, inquired about the transition from undergraduate to graduate school. I'm excited to see her grow as a student at Southern and hope to strengthen our relationship while she tackles the uncertain (yet exciting) time of college," shares Founder, Gallow.

We are excited to launch cohort 3 of the program. These ladies will have an amazing experience learning about how to successfully and spiritually transition from high school to college in 7 weeks.

The 2023 Let Her Rise Program has recruited dynamic mentors to inform, influence and inspire our young women as they transition from high school to college.
Niara Octavia Woods is a communications and higher education professional. A native of New Orleans, Woods graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's in Mass Communications and Public Relations, Master of Education from the University of New Orleans, and is a current doctoral student in Educational Administration at the University of New Orleans. Niara has spent the past few years working directly with both high school and college students previously serving in roles at St. Katherine Drexel Preparatory School, St. Augustine High School, Dillard University, and Xavier University.
Tiberlee Barnum is a proud graduate from Southern University Law Center and LSU-Shreveport (Bachelor of Arts and Sociology and Master of Business Administration). She has been an avid support of the foundation by serving as a Let Her Rise mentor previously.
Darrian Dupree serves as a Labor and Delivery Nurse in Houston, Texas. A proud graduate and on-going supporter of Southern University, she has spent the past five years working in healthcare encouraging other women to consider the healthcare field.
Calvary De'Rosa Sampson, LPC, NCC is a Millennial Therapist and owner of Calvary De'Rosa Counseling and Consulting, where she supports adolescents and young adults with mental health and overall wellbeing. Emphasizing the importance of impact, transformation, and education, Calvary De’Rosa understands both personally and professionally the transitions that teens and millennials face. An on-going support of our mission, Calvary has previously served as a speaker for the Let Her Rise Program.

The program is a spiritually-led mentoring program dedicated to young women who are graduating seniors in high school and plan to attend a two or four year college or university in Louisiana. Participants engaged in an eight-week virtual program that will focus on college readiness, how to achieve and maintain academic success, and maintaining a social and spiritual life while in school.
Application deadline is Friday, May 26, 2023. Program begins June 18, 2023.
