The inspiration for my degree collection was coral and the barrier reef. "I wanted to create a collection that was full of texture and movement, feel soft and feminine but also incorporate the structure and stiffness of coral. I wanted the collection to be feminine and romantic but have a predominant sense of strength that built as each garment developed. The collection consists of six occasion wear pieces, using a combination of stiff cotton organdies, embellished French chiffon contrasted with panels of pig suede, leather and over-sized textured knit. What really interested me about coral was the juxtaposition of soft vs. I loved the texture in coral and developed this by creating my own fabric manipulations in my collection by using chunky knit, leather and layered organdie.
