Doctors take a sworn oath called 'The Hippocratic Oath" to uphold certain standards of ethics—yet interestingly, they are taught less than 25 hours of nutrition education in medical school in North America. …seems some medical doctors have forgotten they’ve taken an oath at all.
🥬🥝🌽 And—one-fifth of American medical schools don’t have any nutrition requirements at all, according to David Eisenberg, who’s an adjunct associate professor of nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. “The fact that less than 20 percent of medical schools have a single required course in nutrition, it’s a scandal. It’s outrageous. It’s obscene,” says Eisenberg. The nutrition program med students do take is primarily about what are vitamins, minerals, carbs, fats; nothing about dietary interventions.

🥠 What in the Gua sha is going on here? (Pronounced ‘gwah-shah’). Coming from the Chinese word ‘to scrape’—specifically ‘to scrape away illness’. It goes back to the Ming Dynasty, and is thought to pre-date acupuncture. It’s considered one of the oldest forms of traditional Chinese Medicine.
💆🏻♀️ Gua sha massage has many benefits. It improves circulation, reduces unwanted fine lines and wrinkles, and encourages lymphatic drainage. It’s also some self-lovin’.
🤓 So how do you use a gua sha? Apply oil over your face, then press and drag the stone tool across your face and décolletage—this works the oil deeply into the skin while having a beneficial effect of lymph drainage along the jawline and neck. It’s thought that the stone massage helps to alleviate pain, tension and improve circulation in the treated areas.

💧 Ever wonder if you should be drinking when you eat? Water dilutes our stomach acid—it's actually best NOT to drink 30-minutes before and 1-hour after you eat—as to not dilute your stomach juices that are needed to help digest food. Hydration is key so try to drink regularly throughout the day. Go on, drink some water—we’ll wait. 💦🤣
🌵 As a society, we’re pretty dehydrated—20% of us don’t drink any water and 42% drink two glasses or less—yet we fill up on coffee, pop, milk and juice.
☕️🥤 Sorry to say—coffee and pop do NOT count towards your daily water intake. Coffee is a diuretic—which means we lose (process out) more water than we take in (drink). (Black tea is only a mild diuretic.) And Pop …it likes stealing water. This sweet, seductive thief robs water from elsewhere in our body to try to dilute the sugar and chemicals—meaning other areas struggle. Imagine if refined sugar was banned or restricted like other drugs. It’s known to be addictive, lol and it wrecks havoc on our minds, bodies and possibly souls—yet tastes so tantalizingly tempting. The ying yang of life. ⚖️
☀️ Try drinking 2 glasses of water (or water with lemon) first thing when you rise in the morning. That’s when we’re most dehydrated. Most of us get about 3-4 cups of water in our food each day—so drinking other 6-8 glasses throughout the day is great. Also if you wake up in the night, try drinking some water then. Before you go to bed, pour a glass of water and also fill a pitcher with water—ready to drink when you wake up. It helps make it a healthy habit.
👩🏻🔬 It’s generally recommended that we don’t drink city tap water. Although it’s filtered and deemed ‘safe’ to drink—over a thousand potentially toxic compounds have been found across the USA in drinking water. It’s best to drink purified water, or reverse osmosis filtered water. It’s interesting to spend a few minutes looking up where your city’s tap water comes from and how it’s processed.
