Some days it's harder to shift our mindset and practice gratitude. Here are some tips to make it easier 👇🏿

✨ If you can't find something you're grateful for, find something you can appreciate.
✨ Look for new things to be grateful for daily. If you're always being grateful for the same things then the practice loses its potency.
✨ Ask others to share what they're grateful for with you - to help inspire and uplift you
✨ Tell others how much you're grateful for them! It will make their day, which will also make yours!

Who are you most grateful for? Tag them in the comments! 💜

Wondering why I'm always harping on the benefits of self-care?
Maybe you think "ya, we've got it Erynne, we need to care for ourselves."

But are you? 🤔 Ask yourself the following...

🤔 Do you take frequent breaks during your day to drink water and move around?
🤔 Do you feel confident saying 'no' to invites and requests simply?
🤔 Do you have daily activities and habits that support your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing?
🤔 Do you understand the 6 different types of self-care and how it shows up in your life?
🤔 Do you regularly nourish your body with good food?
🤔 Do you give yourself grace, kindness and self-compassion?

Self-care is SO much more than wine in a bubble bath. Make sure you're taking the time you need to really love on yourself.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” – Anonymous.

Do you have a gratitude practice? One that you've practiced and turn to often? If you don't I recommend that you do.

Gratitude has been shown to:
🌷 improve sleep quality.
🌷 improve emotional regulation.
🌷 increase feelings of happiness and positive mood.
🌷 foster hope for the future.
🌷 reduce stress, burnout, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
🌷 increase resilience.

And in my sphere - gratitude can be enough to shift our attention or perspective on pain/tension/injury which can be much needed in any healing journey.

Many of my clients are on healing journeys.
A key component of healing is self-compassion.

So often I hear my clients complain that they're not as far along as they want to be, or that they think things should be different. But this attitude isn't going to keep you on track. It's not going to keep you feeling good about your journey.

Instead, focus on enjoying your healing. It's an opportunity to deepen your relationship with yourself. 💜

If you don't get massage regularly - here's why you should. 👇

✨ Regular massage relieves the effects of stress.
✨ It improves circulation
✨ Regular massage increases immunity
✨ Regular massage prevents muscle strain
✨ It improves your posture!

So what exactly is "regular" massage! Well, that depends on your unique body, any current or previous injuries, and your activities of daily living! Typically every 4 - 6 weeks is recommended!

Self-care doesn't have to be complicated.

It can be as simple as checking in with the present moment. If you've ever had a moment when you feel really really present, you KNOW how amazing it feels.

But beyond it feeling good - it also has been shown to help decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression.

I've said this A LOT lately.

We're often the hardest on ourselves. We tend to think everyone else will be judging us, but in fact, we're our own worst critic.

So I challenge you to take time to think about YOUR STORY. We always say that everyone has a story, so we should give them grace and understanding, but what about YOUR story?

Do you know it?
Do you honour it?

Feeling anxious and stressed out is something that a lot of my clients talk about.

For them, massage is a tool that helps lessen feelings of stress and anxiety. However, there are SO many other tools that can work together to help with stress and anxiety.

These are some of my favourite techniques. What are yours? Share in the comments. 👇🏿

So how exactly does massage impact the nervous system?

Massage stimulates the release of endorphins such as serotonin and dopamine by stimulating the autonomic nervous system.

This is why after a massage you feel SO good. Why there's a reduction in pain and why there's an increase in relaxation and calmness. This is why you feel less stressed and why you find yourself sleeping better after a massage!

There are a lot of mixed feelings right now, and I want you to know that whatever you're feeling is totally okay.

If you're feeling extra stressed or anxious these days perhaps consider taking time to get a massage. Massage has a calming effect on the nervous system, releases muscle tension and helps us better manage stress and anxiety.

How are you feeling about life opening back up?

A little anxious? You're not the only one. 💜 I've been hearing a lot of mixed feelings from my clients in recent weeks. Here are a few tips to help deal with that extra anxiety...

🧘‍♂️ Find and PRACTICE a simple breathing or meditation practice. Just find ONE that you like - then use it often.

🚰 Drink plenty and plenty of water, and cut down on caffeine. It's a simple switch that makes a big difference in how you will feel.

🚶 Find some movements that feel really good and sneak them in as much as you can. Dancing, stretching, weights, yoga, pilates, skating, biking. Literally anything! You choose.

😷 Ask for what you need and feel more comfortable with! If someone doesn't respect this then they don't deserve your time anyway.

This transition is another big change for everyone, but remember, we humans we're flexible and adjustable. We adjusted to covid life and we'll adjust again!

The muscles of the neck can get TIGHT!

Especially if you're on your phone or laptop a lot, if you're a parent, if you're posture isn't ideal, or if you spend a lot of time looking down for your work (for example, if you work at a factory, or create art).

Here are a few stretches that can help:

✨ Do all of these stretches while sitting in a tall seated position.

1️⃣ Bring your right ear straight down towards your right shoulder. Hold for 30 seconds. Do both sides.
2️⃣ Bring your right ear straight down towards your right shoulder, then from that position rotate your chin down towards your right shoulder. Hold for 30 seconds. Do both sides.
3️⃣ Bring your right ear straight down towards your right shoulder, then from that position tilt your chin upwards. Hold for 30 seconds. Do both sides.

I know I talk about self-care A LOT, but this really is an important part of the work I do with my clients.

People often come to massage therapists or other health professionals for a specific concern - and in my line of work, it's often stress, aches and pains.

And yes - there are a number of reasons WHY we might be experiencing these things. Consistent self-care may or may not "fix it" but I can promise you that it WILL help.

You deserve to take care of yourself.
You deserve to love yourself.
You deserve to love yourself.

I'm already feeling that tingle of fresh energy that comes with spring (only 5 days away!).

With spring in the air, it has me dreaming about getting outside more often, breathing fresh air, returning to summer/spring sports, and taking better care of myself.

It also has me thinking about my massage clients. I know that with spring comes some of our favourite activities and sports. So my question for you is - how are you preparing your body for your return to these activities? 🤔

This is an important thing to think about EARLY because it will help you avoid injury so that you can feel strong all season long.

Some great ways to do this are to add in intentional stretching and strength training. As well as some foam rolling, hydrotherapy and regular massage appointments. If you're not sure how to do this - ask your health provider. Physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists (like me!) are all great resources.

What spring/summer activities are you most excited about?

Do you honour your need for rest?

Rest is something we all need, but many of us struggle to give ourselves. We think, "I should be doing more," "I don't deserve to rest until x, y, z," "rest is a waste of time..."

But rest is part of the fuel that you need to give your body! It's part of the recipe that keeps us healthy and thriving.

Now, what exactly does rest mean? Do only naps and time watching TV count as restful activities?
Absolutely not.

Rest is...
✨ Doing something creative that fills your cup
✨ Moving simply for the sake of movement - not for the point of training or strenuous exercise.
✨ Taking in the beauty of your surroundings and the present moment
✨ Enjoying the outdoors and fresh air
✨ Taking an extra long bath
✨ Taking time to do absolutely nothing

What we find restful is so unique to each one of us. What matters is that we actually take the time.

Timeline photos 09/03/2022

Checklists help with everythinggggg. 🗒️

It takes the planning and thinking so that you can solely focus on the hard part: executing!

Planning is the easy part. How many of us find ourselves thinking...
"I'm going to workout 4x this week"
"I'm going to meditate daily"
"I'm going to food prep on Sunday"
"I'm going to do my stretches before work every day"

Then we write it down, make it all beautiful in our day planners, only to never actually do it. 🤯

So do yourself a favour, skip the planning, use a checklist and focus on getting there and getting it done! 💪

Timeline photos 03/03/2022

Sitting all day?
Repetitive movements (typing? manual labour? factory work?)

These activities place a serious load on your muscles, and often now in a way that isn't beneficial. Activities that are beneficial?

✨ A variety of movement
✨ Exercise
✨ Good posture
✨ Stretching

But the KEY thing to remember is VARIETY is the most important! Try to change up your position every 35 minutes or so.

Our Story

Welcome!
My name is Erynne, and I’m a Registered Massage Therapist and BodyMind Coach. I have been in practice for seven years and It has always been my desire to help you uncover the source of your pain and discomfort in order to help you live your life to its fullest potential. What I have noticed over the years is that we live in a disconnected world, where we are forced to ‘think’ our way through everything and yet have no idea what’s happening in our bodies until it’s too late.

I believe there is a deeper healing available when we learn to reconnect our Body and Mind, and it is my expanded purpose to help you understand what it means to live Body Mind connected. More specifically, I help tired, stressed out, overworked women learn to prioritize themselves again and live pain-free by using a combination of coaching and massage to help you access and listen t0 that BodyMind connection and live it out in your everyday life.

I look forward to helping you discover what it means for you to live BodyMind connected!
