Be the guinea pig of your own experience
Always stronger, Always further. By Antony D'oliveira
Since 2013
Yo yo yo what's up guys ? Welcome to Ghana. I got here a few days ago from Ivory Coast. Crossing the border between those two countries was a pretty smooth experience.
I was very excited to explore Ghana because I've heard a lot of positive things about this country. After crossing the border, I reached Takoradi, which is right next to the beach. I stayed there for two days before continuing my journey to Cape Coast a city filled with history as it was once a slave trading port.
I literally fell in love with Cape Coast and ended up staying there for 4 days. By the way, I'm slowly reaching my father's country, which means that my African journey is almost coming to an end.
I am currently working on my Ghanaian videos for my YouTube channel. Make sure you don't miss them!

Yo yo yo what's up guys ? Welcome to Ivory Coast, by far one of the most developed country I have visited during my west African journey.
Since Liberia is an English speaking country, I had to switch to French because Ivory Coast was once a French colony back in the day.
Traveling from the Liberian border to the Ghanaian border was smooth due to the good road conditions and the people were very friendly.
When I reached Abidjan, which is the biggest city in Ivory Coast, I felt like I was on a different continent due to its rapid growth.
I could also hear the other side of the story, where many people told me that it was getting harder and harder to make a living there.
My journey in West Africa is almost coming to an end, but I still have 2 countries to visit.I wanted to reach Nigeria as my final country, but due to the difficulties in getting the visa, I think I won't be able to make it.

Yo yo yo whatโs up guys ? Welcome to Liberia, a country founded by enslaved people from the United States of America.
I arrived here a week ago from Sierra Leone. Although these countries are neighbors, they are still very different from each other.
On my first day in the country, I met Patrick, a local who was friendly and invited me to stay over at his place. We became good friends and spent a lot of quality time together.
Liberia and Sierra Leone were both hit by the Ebola epidemic back in 2013. While I was attempting to cross the border, I encountered someone who survived the epidemic, but unfortunately, he lost all of his family.
Liberia was not my favorite country, but Iโm grateful for the people Iโve met along the way.

I was quite surprised to see the huge influence of the US in this western African country. They are even using dollars for their local currency.
Between 1989 and 2003, approximately 250,000 people lost their lives due to the two civil wars in Liberia.
I am currently working on my Liberian videos for my YouTube channel. Make sure you don't miss them!

Yo yo yo wassup guys ? Welcome to another fascinating country on my West African journey. Iโm sure many of you havenโt heard of this beautiful hidden country. Anyway, today I would like to take the time to introduce you to Sierra Leone.
There are approximately 8,6 million people living in the entire country. English and Creole are the official languages in Sierra Leone .
Freetown, the capital city of the country, is such a unique place on earth. In some ways, it reminds me of Gap Haitien in Haรฏti.
Sierra Leoneโs civil war lasted for 11 years in the 90s due to the abundance of diamonds in the north of the country.
The local currency is known as Leones
Even though I couldnโt speak Creole, I found people to be helpful and welcoming . The energy of the country was on a different level. People love listening to music on the streets.
I would definitely recommend visiting Sierra Leone, one of my favorite countries on my African journey so far.

Yo yo yo whatโs up? Welcome to another country on my west African journey, and probably one of the most intense I have traveled so far...
Iโm not sure where to start because there is a lot to say, but besides the difficulties that the country is facing, Guinea is a land of abundant nature, waterfalls, and deep forests. Islam is the dominant religion in the country, with 89 percent of the population and I found people to be very friendly and helpful.
On September 5, 2021, the country of Guinea experienced a military coup. Since then, the country has been ruled by the military. The atmosphere in the capital looks very unreal due to the high presence of military and tanks around the city.
On December 18, 2023, a massive explosion occurred at the fuel depots in Conakry, which paralyzed the country until today. So traveling from one place to the other turns out to be very expensive + the condition of the road didnโt help at all.Power outages and the lack of internet were also major issues during my travels. Yo yo yo wassup guys ? Welcome to Guinea Bissau. I got here a few weeks ago from Senegal, today I would like to introduce this unknown country that caught my attentionโฆ
-Did you know that the main languages spoken in Bissau are Portuguese and Creole? So in some ways it was a little bit challenging interacting with localsโฆBut you know how much I love challenges, so I could get by with Spanish !
-Did you know that Guinea Bissau has about 88 islands, but only 27 of them are populated ?
-Did you know that the main religions are Islam, Christianity, and Animism ?

Yo yo yo wassup guys ? Welcome to Gambia, the smiling coast of Africa. For those who are unfamiliar with Gambia, it is a small country located within Senegal. I got here 10 days ago from Kaolack. On the first day I entered the country, I met Ablasi, who invited me to stay at his place in Essau.

I felt so comfortable at my friend's place that I ended up staying there for 10 days. I definitely recommend you to visit Gambia, people are very friendly and hospitable. Soon, I will be sharing my feedback on YouTube. Sadly there is also a dark side of Gambia that no one talks about.
I am currently in Ziguinchor, the southern biggest city in Senegal before the border with Guinea-Bissau. I am feeling super exhausted because it is extremely hot during daytime. Episode: Morocco ๐ฒ๐ฆ
Yo yo yo wassup guys ? Welcome to another thrilling episode of Morocco. I am currently in Agadir, the gateway to the Western Sahara. I got here yesterday from Marrakesh. Honestly, I'm feeling very exhausted. I am still struggling with hitchhiking, but I am slowly making my way south. In some way, God always puts someone on my way.
I want to express my gratitude for his constant presence with me. Without him, I wouldn't be able to do what I am doing. I want to also show my gratitude for all the lovely people I meet along my way.
I am considering leaving the country in the next few weeks until I reach the border with Mauritania. Facing daily judgment and discrimination can be hard to handle in some way. I understand that the situation may be difficult to handle with migrants. Instead of accumulating bad memories, I am preferring heading south.
Since I am in the country, only 3 people stopped by on their own. Otherwise, the police officers assisted me in getting a lift.
After visiting more than ninety countries, I can easily identify when I am welcomed or not, I still have 1500 kilometers ahead of me, mostly in the desert. Make sure you don't miss out on my Moroccan series on YouTube: https://youtube.com/?si=zRRvYfpTDrhMbKca

Episode: Morocco ๐ฒ๐ฆ
Yo yo yo wassup guys ? Welcome to Morocco. I'm excited and anxious at the same time... Excited because I am going to share some beautiful sites with you. Anxious due to my daily encounters with racism and discrimination...Before I start digging into the subject, I would like to mention that what I am going to share with you is only based on my proper experience.I was shocked to hear from the National Police that there is a law that prohibits giving rides to the Subsaharien people. Some police officers are going to say that the law applies only in three regions of the country, while others are going to say it applies to the entire country. Before going any further, I would like to say that this law is terrible. Discriminating an entire population only because of their color is bad... Now comes the tricky situation: Myself a single black man traveling by foot and hitchhiking, born and raised in France with an African background. In the eyes of the local population, this law also applies to me. Why? Because I am a dark skin male hitchhiking , people have no clue where I am from. All they do is observe me and make their statements. Besides the difficulties I encountered while traveling in the northern part of Morocco. I have also met some very caring people along the way. I am very impressed to see how well organized the north part of Morocco is, and the country side is absolutely beautiful. I am sometimes thinking if I should keep on hitchhiking with this ridiculous lawโฆIt's possible that people view me as an immigrant. While traveling, you have the option to either be blind and only visit tourist sites or have an eye-opening and learn about what is truly happening in the country.
