Happy National Addiction Treatment Week! Dr. Kumar is currently on the PGY-1 substance use rotation at Morris Village where he assists with the assessment and treatment of patients with substance use disorders in the inpatient setting.
Substance use is present in nearly every rotation and clinical setting, however our program offers experiences specifically dedicated to substance use education.
In PGY-2 we have the opportunity to complete the I-ACT (inpatient addiction consult team) rotation at Richland.
In PGY-3, we rotate at the outpatient substance use clinic at the VA.
Lastly, in PGY-4, residents can continue their education with a substance use elective.

Special shout-out to our amazing attendings:

- Dr. Houchins represented the South Carolina Psychiatric Association on the APA Assembly and continues to advocate for patients through her work with the Political Action Committee.
- Dr. Srinivasan was awarded The Jack Weinberg Memorial Award in Geriatric Psychiatry (honors a psychiatrist who over the course of his or her career has demonstrated special leadership or has done outstanding work in clinical practice, training, or research into geriatric psychiatry). Congratulations!
- Dr. Glover attended both APA and the annual ECT meeting; she serves as one of our leading educators in ECT.
- Dr. Williams served as the APA Scientific Program Committee Chair, one of the highest honors in the APA!

We are lucky to learn from a group of such accomplished, hardworking, and knowledgeable leaders! Letโ€™s give them a big round of applause! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Thank you Dr. Ola and Dr. Srinivasan for a stimulating geriatric case conference about catatonia!

One of the best parts of being a general psychiatry resident at SodaCityPsych is that we get early exposure to various psychiatric subspecialties (child, forensics, geriatrics) through clinical experiences and case conferences, didactics, and grand rounds!
