Baking is my hobby. I bake, take a picture, and share. There’s nothing to sell ... just doing this for fun.
Shabbat Shalom and G’mar chatima tovah … May you be sealed in the Book of Life.

It’s Biscuit Week on the GBBS, and the bakers were asked to bake 10 IDENTICAL Viennese Biscuits. Well, I wouldn’t get the handshake because I only baked 8 not necessarily identical sandwiches. Not bad for a first effort (and not having the correct icing tip!)

I brought this round challah (with a place for honey) to friends for dinner tonight.
…
It’s almost a year.
As always, this challah was baked for the hostages.
With every knead … with every twist or braid … my heart is with the hostages.
Honey Cake baked in a beautiful bundt pan.

Rosh Hashana is upon us. This round challah, just out of the oven, has a spot for my honey from Israel. Shana Tova.

This is Natalie’s Apple Cake. Natalie was one of my mother’s closest friends. Their friend Ann sent me her recipe which she marked “the best”. I’ve made it for the past few years for Rosh Hashana. While assembling it I’m filled with thoughts of my mom and her friends who I loved so much.

My heart is heavy as Israel has been attacked by Iran. This Rosh Hashana, we pray for a united israeli people living together in safety, security and with unity and harmony. עם ישראל חי

This photo is from May, 2021, when I made my first and only Battenberg Cake after seeing it on the Great British Baking Show. I remember being very happy with the results. Paul Hollywood’s first challenge to the newest bakers in the new season was … the Battenberg Cake! He challenged them to bake this without a recipe! Would I be able to do this again without a script? I don’t think so!!! It’s great to have a new season of the GBBS to watch … and a new batch of bakers to wow me!

Shabbat Shalom. Honey from the land of milk and honey. Challah from my hands. A reminder that there are still hostages in Gaza. Do not forget.

Ronnie begged me to bake something for him to take to work. Nobody will be disappointed when they bite into these Ginger Molasses Cookies. I’m just saying.

My friend Michele and I made Potato Knishes today!!! She made the filling, I made the dough and we worked together to form the knishes!!! We are both very pleased with the end result. In between resting the dough and forming the knish log, I taught Michele how to make a round challah. What a day! (Try to imagine how delicious this kitchen smells)

A few weeks ago I caught Wes eating a Hostess Cupcake … and loving it! I said “Hey! I can make that!” He was pretty excited with the prospect of homemade cupcakes with a creamy filling and ganache icing. It took me a while to do this, but here they are. Stay tuned for the taste test this afternoon!.

Shabbat Shalom. Until EVERY hostage is released and returned to their family … I will continue to bake the challah they’ve not tasted since October 7th.

Shabbat Shalom. I’m braiding round Challah in preparation for the New Year. Round Challah has no end, symbolizing our wish for a year in which life and blessings continue without end. This loaf is a beauty and will show up on a holiday card for our congregation. The yellow ribbon is for the hostages … who must be released and returned to their families. Peace.

It has been a week of baking in our cabin on the beach. Some yummy stuff came out of the (new!) little oven. We had a great week just steps away from PTown.
Shabbat Shalom! Challah on the beach. My challah will be shared with friends … but it is baked for the hostages.
