The Spontaneous Players

The award-winning improv comedy troupe behind 'Spontaneous Sherlock' and 'Spontaneous Potter'.

And that’s the end of our UK tour! And we couldn’t have asked for a better final show: a completely sold out crowd at Leicester Square Theatre in the heart of London’s West End!

“Harry Potter and the Gigantic Dildo” was a magical tale of Voldemort and Pettigrew hiding inside a giant Trojan d***o to sneak into Hogwarts, Pettigrew rummaging in the bins behind a Marie Curie, a giant pot of bolognese, at least 10 Snapes from alternate dimensions, Voldemort walking down some spiral stairs, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Hippogriffs.

We will be back on another UK Tour next year! Where would you like us to perform? Comment below and we’d love to make it happen!

Thank you all!

Thank you so much to the magical people of the The Glee Club Cardiff for selling out tonight’s Halloween edition of Spontanoeus Potter!

“Harry Potter and the Space Goats of Azkaban” was a thrilling tale of Peter the Goat Farmer, Voldemort and Bellatrix engaging in parsnip s*x, Dumbledore going undercover as a cool first year, multiple prophecies, selling all the chairs to build a quad in Hogwarts, and Filch getting his p***s stuck in various shop windows.

Tomorrow is the final day of our October tour! Big London show at the Leicester Square Theatre - and it has completely sold out! We are so excited ⚡️

See you there!

Thank you so much to the sold out crowd who came to see us in Nottingham this evening!

“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Hoar House” was a magical tale of the fifth house in Hogwarts (“Hoar House”), Voldemort drinking cans of milk, Harry and Ron and Hermione in a love triangle, the Ravenclaws making a Voltron out of chairs, Crabbe going to Las Vegas without any money, Neville’s DVD-case-shaped p***s, Snape dying in a volcano, and Hermione dating ManPig.

The tour rolls on to Cardiff on Tuesday! Then London on Wednesday! All tickets here:

Thank you so much to the sold out crowds at Carriageworks Theatre Leeds for two packed shows!

Our Kidz show matinée involved questionable maths from Fluffy, a Martian pharmacy, a baby Egyptian mummy, dinosaur feet, Hermione really loving books, and Creamy John the Hippogriff.

Our adult show was entitled “Harry Potter and the Murder on the Hogwarts Express” - a magical tale of trying to push the Hogwarts Express off the Glenfinnan Viaduct, Hermione and Ron making sweet, sweet lasagne, Dumbledore having a crack addiction, Hercule Poirot being hired as a (mostly useless) consultant, and Fred and George playing I Spy in a driving plane.

The tour rolls on to Nottingham tomorrow! All upcoming UK tour dates here:

That’s two shows down in Swindon! Thank you to yesterday’s crowd and tonight’s crowd for two raucous shows!

Last night we saw “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Disappointment” - in which Voldemort used to work at McDonald’s, a magic gecko manned multiple food and recreation outlets, Avanti West Coast privatised the Hogwarts Express, and OFSTED were a force to be reckoned with.

Tonight’s show was “Harry Potter and the Unexplained Pregnancy”, a magical tale of various branches of Boots, Ron dying from an evil baby, Harry getting laser eye surgery, Ginny romancing a brick layer called Trevor, Dobby’s p***s being a conduit for fibre optic broadband, and only being able to move chairs, bricks and babies if you insult them first.

The tour rolls on to Leeds tomorrow! Link for all tickets and future dates here!

Thank you to the magical denizens of Chelmsford - young and old - for apparating to the Chelmsford Theatre for Spontaneous Potter Kidz and Spontaneous Potter, and filling the room with laughter.

Our kid's show featured Fluffy's knowledge of the periodic table (with everyone's favourite element Lego), wizard Nikola Tesla eating a worm and exploding, and the secret passage in Gringotts accessed by smashing your forehead onto the tiles.

The evening show "Harry Potter and the Slytherin My Pants" was certainly some of our "seminal" work. Thanks for "coming". It was filth, is what we're getting at. We saw Harry dipping his eggs in the prefect's bath, Voldemort and Bellatrix's giant metal baby, the Hogwarts lake nuclear submarine, the murderous spell "Hello", and Peter Pettigrew controlling Dumbledore like Ratatouille... but in his pants (among many, many other depraved and frankly illegal activities).

Onwards to Swindon for the next two days of shows! All tour tickets and info can be found below:

A massive thank you to the wonderful people of Crewe who came out tonight for Harry Potter and the Half Drag Queen at the Crewe Lyceum! The show featured the Quidditch Pitch being turned into a Total Wipeout course, iambic pentameter love poetry, everyone being a drag queen (on the inside), s*x being when you put your finger in someone's ear, and a goblin called Backrub who gives erotic back rubs.

No rest for the wicked - our tour continues tomorrow in Chelmsford! All tour dates are available on our website here:

Hope to see you all soon!

Thank you to the magical people of Newbury who packed out the Corn Exchange Newbury twice today for us!

Our Kidz matinée show saw a Roblox robot blasting himself, Will getting beaten up by a child, Max in the 8th row being killed by bananas, Draco and the griffin disgracing themselves onstage, and an allergy shop selling dung.

Our adult evening show was “Harry Potter and the Exorcist”, and saw Harry and Ron painting Warhammer figurines, Voldemort eating candy floss, Dumbledore creating a magical portrait of Snape, Neville stealing Harry’s girlfriends, and Paul and Barry Chuckle disposing of multiple bodies.

The tour rolls on to Crewe tomorrow! All UK Tour show dates on our website.

Thank you Theatre Royal Wi******er for two packed shows!

Our Kidz show matinee saw Fluffy being an expert in p*e, Harry and Draco rolling around on the floor, Snape having tea with Lupin’s wife, a gingerbread house built out of Geoffrey Bezos, and Neville killing a hippogriff with a shovel.

Our adult evening show was “Harry Potter and the Hermione does OnlyFans” - a magical tale of modern art exhibitions, the tragic deaths of every Weasley except Ron, the love saga of Neville and Ron, Harry learning humility by coming back from the dead, Snape and McGonagall wandering around n**e, and Dobby selling soap on Etsy.

The tour rolls on! Newbury tomorrow for two shows - all upcoming dates on our website.

Thanks so much to the wonderful kids and grownups of Bath for coming to Spontaneous Potter Kidz at the Komedia this afternoon! So nice to see so many costumes - it was like being in a tiny Hogwarts. We saw Harry Potter and Dolores Umbridge vacationing in Hull, Taylor Swift turning into Madonna and Dumbledore pooing in Diagon Alley.

A few more Kidz shows on the tour coming up as well as plenty of adult shows (with just as much toilet humour).

19/10/2023

What a fun show at The Theatre Chipping Norton this evening! Thank you so much to the sold out crowd, for the rare chance for us to perform our original show “Spontaneous Sherlock” this evening!

“Sherlock Holmes and the Thames Water Poisoner” was a thrilling tale of hallucinogenic moss, Chinese tattoos for ‘prosperity’, Sherlock refining his sense of smell, gun beats knife beats stick beats gun, horse drowning, measuring and tasting the Thames, a colander with no holes in it, and the original John Watson trying to sell Sri Lanka.

That was day three of our UK Tour - all upcoming Spontaneous Potter shows available on our website!

Huge thanks to this evening’s sold out crowd of 350 magical people at The Glee Club Birmingham

“Harry Potter and Moaning Myrtle’s Long Lost Sister” was a magical tale of budget cuts at Hogwarts, multiple magical toilet-dwelling ghosts, the train driver on the Hogwarts Express getting shot, Snape and Dumbledore playing horsey, two tickets to Billy Bonka’s Chocolate Factory, and Pettigrew making rat p**n on OnlyFans 🐀 - all in the shadow of Death itself!

And our 2023 UK tour has officially begun!

Thank you so much to the magical people who joined us tonight in Theatre Severn Shrewsbury!

“Harry Potter and the Flaccid Wand” was a magical tale in which Voldemort concocted a cunning plan - to use wand varnish to rob Harry of his magical abilities, before duelling Draco in front of the whole school. All while Harry and Ginny defined their relationship, and Snape plotted against Fawkes for the Defence Against the Dark Arts position. Sponsored by Santander Bank!

A massive thank you to all of the big nerds who came to see us tonight in Guildford. Harry Potter and the Rail Strike was an emotional roller coaster of a tale featuring Lucius Malfoy purchasing the Hogwarts Express, Fenrir and Bellatrix digging up bones (and forming a union), Dumbledore killing Snape in a K-Hole and being sent to a magic detox centre, and Xenophilius Lovegood going down a well to meet the dark wizard Grindelwelld.

Also of note were our short fanfictions featuring Dumbledore and Snape's Onlyfans (Snape can make his wiggle), Cornelius Fudge's new budget, and Neville constantly sh****ng himself on Platform 9 3/4.

Still a handful of tickets left for the rest of our tour dates at thespontaneousplayers.com - hope to see you all there!

A few days late on our end-of-Fringe post! We've been taking some time to recover from an entire month of performing.

Thank you to all who came to our Edinburgh Fringe run at Gilded Balloon this August! We performed 31 shows altogether (26 Spontaneous Potter shows, 4 Spontaneous Potter Kidz shows, and 1 bonus Spontaneous Sherlock show) and they were all a thrill and a delight.

Our various highlights include:

- Ron being grounded all summer because he tied a dog to a kite

- Dumbledore's flashbacks to fighting in Vietnam

- Snape time turning to visit John Lennon and Paul McCartney

- The sudden appearance of Mr Spock

- A bee landing on the piano ("There's a B on every piano")

- An entire Spontaneous Potter show directed by Quentin Tarantino

- McGonagall and Cho Chang piloting a helicopter

- The Kidz show where all the children filed out the room chanting "Bloodlust! Bloodlust!"

- Sherlock Holmes entering his mind palace and looking at p**nography (two women revealing their ankles)

We are going on tour all across the UK this autumn! All our tour dates are listed here on our website:

We are extremely sorry to announce that, due to a confirmed COVID illness in the cast (and multiple resulting COVID exposures amongst our cast), we have had to reschedule tonight's performance of Spontaneous Potter at the Everyman Theatre - Cheltenham.

The show will be rescheduled to another date later in the year, to be announced very shortly. All ticket holders will be emailed shortly by the venue, and will have the option to either keep their tickets for the rescheduled date, or will be entitled to a full refund.

All other upcoming Spontaneous Potter shows will currently be going ahead as planned.

Our sincerest apologies again, but we look forward to returning to Cheltenham before the end of the year.

Three sold out shows in a row! Our huge thanks to the magical crowds who came to see us in Perth, Glasgow and Newcastle this week!

Perth’s suggestion of “Harry Potter and the Positive Pregnancy Test” was a magical tale of Voldemort trying to beat Harry to death with his bare hands, Harry’s tactic to s*xual in*******se being a running jump, Fenrir Greyback marrying Dobby, Dumbledore having a half-duck-half-chicken (a “dicken”), and magic not working when you put it in a bag.

Glasgow’s suggestion of “Harry Potter and the Quidditch Doping Scandal” was a magical tale of Voldemort and Bellatrix getting couple’s counselling, Peter Pettigrew’s metal p***s, Ginny having a thick Yorkshire accent, Dumbledore constantly dumbling, the other Quidditch balls being called Baby, Ginger, Posh, Scary and Sporty, and Snape, Dumbledore and McGonagall all watching Harry Potter from the bushes.

Newcastle’s suggestion of “Harry Potter and the Ket Hole” was a magical tale of Draco wanting to please his father by calling him “daddy”, Lucius Malfoy investing in drug cartels, the Hogwarts Express trolley selling kebabs, Ron’s family motto being “one finger’s enough”, Dumbledore appointing an owl with an AK47 as the new defence against the dark arts teacher, Hogwarts switching to EE, McGonagall installing an Amazon Locker on her upper thigh, and Voldemort being arrested by the British Dental Association.

We will be back to Perth soon, date currently in the works! And our next Glasgow and Newcastle shows are on July 10th and 11th respectively - tickets available here!
