It can't be Monday again!

A couple weeks ago when it snowed! I luv the snow!

When Mom was on vacation! I had lots of fun!

I am sure these Adorable puppies will find homes fast!

ALL ADOPTED!!!!!

These sweet puppies were found on the side of the road and came up with our Georgia transport. They were only 6 weeks old when found and 7 weeks when we got them and we wanted to make sure they were healthy before showing them to the public. We have no idea what their breed mixture is, but 4 have no tails or just stubs. We believe they will be between 20 and 40 pounds full grown, but can not say for sure since we have no idea what their parents mixture is. There is one female (application pending) and 5 males. They were spayed and neutered yesterday and are ready to go. Adoption fee is $350 and this includes distemper vaccines, microchip, wormings, fecals, flea medication and being fixed. We are open Wednesday thru Saturday from Noon to 4:30.

IF ONLY THEY COULD TALK :( IT WOULD BE SO MUCH HARDER TO SET THEM UP FOR FAILURE. Frisky can only hope for a fair chance. He lived in a home, who without a care in the world dropped him at the shelter to die. Frisky, a young and healthy boy of 4 years old, wearing his best tuxedo, is ready to share his side of the story. At the shelter Frisky wags his tail, approaches when requested, and accepts contact. Also noted is his soft bodied, wagging tail with excitement when greeted by a lady dog. Furthermore, he has displayed exuberant energy levels, and a willingness to interact. Makes us question what Frisky endured in his prior home, and the validity of the claim. More importantly, his being fast tracked to be destroyed, with hours to live is front and center. Frisky is at the mercy of dog lovers who know most family dogs love their human family till their dying breath, therefore leaving these sort of stories with an odor of fishiness .With the odds stacked tightly against him, he will unlikely be granted a reprieve. Abandoned by his parent of 8 years, BABY BOY sits in a kennel at the Brooklyn Center trembling, shaking, confused and alone. We don’t think there is a more lonely boy in the world than him. He clearly doesn’t understand why a new housing situation became more important than him, and he still searches every face for the family he loved and lost – his 2 parents, the 3 children he adored. He sits in his dark kennel, remembering how he’d cuddle with his parent in their bed at night, and we are sure that though we don’t see them, there are tears. How do you throw away a dog who gave his life to you? How do you do that? His parents KNEW he was very shy with new people, needing time to warm up to them, so why did they think he would do well in this scary place? No one is seeing that sterling resume, built over time and his desire to please them. Housetrained, well behaved home alone, a repertoire of commands. Baby Boy will never take those long walks with his parent again where, even if he was off leash, would come running when his parent called him. It’s truly heartbreaking, and now he is fighting for his life today, wondering what his fate will be. Will a kind, experienced family pick him, knowing that behind his hopeless eyes and shattered dreams is a heart as big as the world, and a boy who would make a perfect and loving companion? AT RISK MEMO: Baby Boy remains highly fearful in the care center; upon interactions, he hyper-salivates and trembling profusely. Baby Boy also easily startles easily by sudden and even subtle movement, widening his eyes and jumping away. His previous owner reports that he will escalate to snapping at times and though this has not been observed in the care center. We recommend Baby Boy be placed with an experienced rescue partner who can allow him to acclimate and decompress at his own pace and then reassess his behavior. Baby Boy was diagnosed with dental disease.

INTAKE BEHAVIOR – DATE OF INTAKE, 1/25/2019: Baby Boy was very anxious while in the room. He was sitting close to his owner with whale eyes. No handling was done as he was rushed to the kennel.

OWNER SURRENDER NOTES – BASIC INFORMATION: Baby boy is a ten year old tan and white large dog that was surrendered to the center due to owner living in a no pet place. He had him since he was a puppy. Baby Boy doesn't have any known health issue and has not seen the vet recently. He previously lived with 2 adults and 3 children. He is very shy around strangers. As per owner, he should be approached slowly as he might snap however he said that he is very sweet after he warms up. Baby Boy lived with a five, eight and ten year old. He was relaxed, playful and respectful around them. He didn't live with other dogs. As per owner, he barks at them. He didn't live with cats. Baby Boy is not bothered if his food is touched while eating, nor if an object or treat is taken away from him. He doesn’t have a bite history with a person or an animal. Baby Boy is housetrained and has a medium energy level. He has never had a medical issue.

Other Notes: Baby Boy is not bothered when he is held/restrained nor if he is disturbed while resting. He enjoys being bathed and brushed. The owner never trimmed his nails therefore his behavior is unknown. He barks when someone unfamiliar approaches the house.

For a New Family to Know: He was described as friendly, affectionate, playful and shy. He likes to follow people around and be in the same room. He likes to play with ropes. He was kept indoors only. He likes to tug. Baby used to sleep on the owner's bed and used fed dry food mixed with meat. He is house-trained and goes potty on grass, cement and dirt. He is well-behaved when left alone in the house. He has never been crated and listens to sit, come, stray, move and up. He is used to walks on leash for exercise (twice a day) and off-leash he wanders some but comes when called.

Level 1
Dogs with Level 1 determinations are suitable for the majority of homes. These dogs are not displaying concerning behaviors in shelter, and the owner surrender profile (where available) is positive. Some dogs with Level 1 determinations may still have potential challenges, but these are challenges that the behavior team believe can be handled by the majority of adopters. The potential challenges could include no young children, prefers to be the only dog, no dog parks, no cats, kennel presence, basic manners, low level fear and mild anxiety.

Level 2
Dogs with Level 2 determinations will be suitable for adopters with some previous dog experience. They will have displayed behavior in the shelter (or have owner reported behavior) that requires some training, or is simply not suitable for an adopter with minimal experience. Dogs with a Level 2 determination may have multiple potential challenges and these may be presenting at differing levels of intensity, so careful consideration of the behavior notes will be required for counselling. Potential challenges at Level 2 include no young children, single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity, mouthiness, fear with potential for escalation, impulse control/arousal, anxiety and separation anxiety.

Level 3
Dogs with Level 3 determinations will need to go to homes with experienced adopters, and the ACC strongly suggest that the adopter have prior experience with the challenges described and/or an understanding of the challenge and how to manage it safely in a home environment. In many cases, a trainer will be needed to manage and work on the behaviors safely in a home environment. It is likely that every dog with a Level 3 determination will have a behavior modification or training plan available to them from the behavior department that will go home with the adopters and be made available to the New Hope Partners for their fosters and adopters. Some of the challenges seen at Level 3 are also seen at Level 1 and Level 2, but when seen alongside a Level 3 determination can be assumed to be more severe. The potential challenges for Level 3 determinations include adult only home (no children under the age of 13), single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity with potential for redirection, mouthiness with pressure, potential escalation to threatening behavior, impulse control, arousal, anxiety, separation anxiety, bite history (human), bite history (dog) and bite history (other).

“He cries if he is left alone.” Those words just broke our hearts. Poor Otis was found crossing the street and stopping traffic. And not because he is so beautiful, because he is. No, he was lost, hungry, sick and alone. A kind person took him in for a week and had nothing but glowing things to say about Otis. Friendly and outgoing with strangers, playful and relaxed with their neighbor’s pitbull, and a lover of treats and cuddles, poor Otis needs care, TLC, and a vet asap so he can get better. If he does, indeed, have the illnesses outlined by the vets at the ACC, then it is dire he receive attention now. PLEASE! AT RISK MEMO: Otis has been observed to warm up to handlers upon a slower and softer approach, Otis remains highly fearful in the care center and is unable to fully thrive as he is easily startled by loud noises and sudden movement. When startled Otis has been observed to respond by head flipping, whale-eyeing handlers and attempting to move further away. We believe he would be best set up to succeed if placed with an experienced rescue partner who can allow him to decompress in a stable home environment and then reassess behavior once he is acclimated and comfortable. Otis was diagnosed with Bental disease, Diarrea and is underweight.

SURRENDER NOTES - BASIC INFORMATION: Otis was found as a stray crossing the street and stopping traffic. Finder stated no owner was around so they took him in for a week. Otis is friend and is approx. 5 years old. In his finder´s home he lived with 2 adults. Otis is friendly and outgoing around strangers and he allows handling. Otis has not been around any children in finders care, so it is unknown of the behavior around them. His finder stated Otis was around the neighbors female pitbull and he was very relaxed and playful with her while in there care. Otis has not been around any cats in finders care, so it is unknown of the behavior around them. His finder stated, that Otis does not resource guard his food. He has no bite history, seems to be partially housetrained and shows a medium energy level. The finder stated they didn’t think Otis had a medical issue.

Other Notes: Finder stated he does not like being left alone in a room locked up. he will cry and try scratching the door to let him out.

For a New Family to Know: Finder stated Otis is an affectionate, friendly and playful dog. He does not like being left alone in a room by himself. he is very treat motivated. He eats twice a day. Finder stated when giving him a bath he does not like the water hose. he has to be giving a bath in the bath tub. He is great in car rides. he plays with ropes. He is well- behaved in the house or left in the yard. He goes to the bathroom in the grass. He never been crate train in finder's care. He knows que like sit, come and no. He walks slow on the leash.
