Understanding Fat Digestion & Absorption | The Whole Journey Fat is great for bone health, brain function, emotional health, gut health, immune function and heart health. However, sometimes whether we have been...
I have tinkered with just about every diet known to women and have always fallen off the wagon for bread. Maybe my body was telling me something?🤔
After taking college nutrition courses I questioned the low-carb-high-fat path that I was on. Getting enough fiber from whole food sources was always hard - and I suffered 😬
What I've discovered is that making whole grain bread from scratch is easy and delicious. Bonus, my body loves me for it 👍😁
My bread journey began by using store-bought 100% organic wheat flour, water, yeast and salt. Mix, let it rise for a few hours and pop it in a cast iron dutch oven and bake. That's it, and it was nice. There are lots of great recipes to be found online (❤️ YouTube).
However, seeking a truly amazing bread experience... I dove into experimenting with organic whole wheat grains (berries) and grinding my own flour.
✨The trick to making bread the nutritious powerhouse of our ancestors is to soak the grains first, let them dry, then grind them into flour. This is how humans have enjoyed and relied upon grains as dietary staples for thousands of years.
Here are my quick tips:
🌾 Use organic (NO glyphosate + pesticides) grains.
💦 Soak to release compounds that impair digestion.
💥 Grind your grains to make your own flour.
🍞 Enjoy your super-bread full of bioavailable minerals!

“Forest Bathing can enhance the immune response as measured by natural killer cell activity”
The intelligent design of your body instinctively seeks those aromatic compounds to fortify cellular self-defense.
🌲A recent study found that a trip to the forest, or diffusing essential oils with alpha-pinene and beta-pinene, supports and raises our body’s immunity and its ability to kill tumor cells.
👩🔬This Japanese study published in the International Journal of Immunopathology and Pharmacology confirms that molecules found in the forest significantly raised the activity of natural killer cells after just a few hours of exposure, and the effect lasted for up to 30 days. Later, the study was repeated with essential oils that were diffused while participants slept, and the results were the same.
The good news is that you can create a Forest Bathing experience for your immune system, while you sleep!
🌲My Forest Bathing blend is just a few drops each of premium quality (doTERRA) Siberian Fir, Frankincense, Rosemary, Cypress, Juniper Berry, Douglas Fir and a touch of Wild Orange in my diffuser on the weekends to support this natural immune system response.
This is the time to REALLY love on your immune system.
To help, I’ve created this link to purchase your own Forest Bathing collection of oils and a great little diffuser. This collection will provide over 1000 hours of Forest Bathing. A great investment in your one and only immune system:

Study Identifies Dietary Molecules as Therapeutic Agents to Combat COVID-19 Using Molecular Docking*
Remdesvir and Chloroquine are used as standard drugs to compare the results of these dietary molecules in this study.
Summary of Primary Recommendations 👇
Green Tea 3-4 x day (every 4.5 hrs)
Turmeric - in warm milk 3x day
Chamomile or Parsley Tea - 2 x day
Whole Grain Oats or Barley - 1 x day
Check the chart for quantities.
I've added supplemental quercetin, zinc and vitamin C along with broccoli sprouts for sulforaphane to my daily diet. 👍
*Note - this study is a preprint, which means it has not undergone peer review. Given the newness of COVID-19, that's understandable. That said, these recommendations surely can't hurt ✌️

Something we can do to help our healthcare workers 😷
According to the CDC:
“Healthcare personnel (HCP) use of homemade masks:
In settings where facemasks are not available, HCP might use homemade masks (e.g., bandana, scarf) for care of patients with COVID-19 as a last resort. However, homemade masks are not considered PPE, since their capability to protect HCP is unknown. Caution should be exercised when considering this option. Homemade masks should ideally be used in combination with a face shield that covers the entire front (that extends to the chin or below) and sides of the face.”
