I intentionally waited a few days after Mother’s Day—after the smoke cleared from the homage paid to all other moms—to post about my wife, purposing to honor her apart from the rest.

It’s impossible to find words that do justice to the kind of woman and mom she truly is, but here’s my best shot:

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”” —Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭25‬-‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I can’t help but think of these verses when I think about Falon Clayton. Strength, dignity, wisdom, kindness, confidence in God, diligence, excellence, virtuous, and capable. These characteristics only begin to describe her. Falon also beautifully and gracefully balances these noble characteristics with humility, compassion, patience, empathy, and grace.

Is she perfect? No, but who is? We’ve all made mistakes and have our faults—but she’s close enough for me, and keeps pressing on toward perfection in her pursuit of Jesus.

Today, on behalf of myself, her children, and step children/grand baby, I stand up and stand out among the rest to bless her:

, you are virtuous, incredibly talented, gifted, and capable. You are an excellent mom, mimi, wife, homemaker, and woman of God. The best of all!
