Match report v Balcatta

We started the game without our dominating centre half Madison today, he had been getting headaches and had no energy. Conor covered his position and TJ went to right back. We started well, Liam was using the ball well, Owen & Aaron were combining well on the left but we just couldn't get the ball in the net. Balcatta were a decent team, they had some tricky little players. We finally got the goal we deserved. Jacob played it out to Aaron then onto Owen who passed it forward to Cory, back to Owen who whipped in a nice cross for Mason to volley it home at the far post. The game was evenly played, they had a good midfield and defence but lacked a bit going forward. They did manage to hit the crossbar with a shot from long range though, but Jacob dealt with the rebound. We managed to clear all of their attacks quite well, even corners were headed away. Conor was dominating in defence today, he tackled superbly and cleared just about everything that came his way. His real moment of glory came towards the end of the half. Balcatta cleared one of our attacks which went straight to him, he took a touch then unleashed a volley from halfway which went in the left side of the goal, keeper had no chance, 2-0 up at halftime.
The 2nd half started much the same, we had a lot of chances but couldn't finish. Mason could've scored 3 today, if he used his left foot. He played his best game of the season today though, he chased, harassed and assisted really well. Owen should've scored as well, he missed two golden opportunities to score with his head and one with his right foot. He never gave up trying though. Cameron and TJ played really well together, they stuck to their instructions and never panicked. Balcatta had a brief spell in the 2nd half were they got a few corners but couldn't do anything with them. Jacob was great in goal again, his throwing and goal kicks were first rate. Aaron did a lot of attacking but he and Owen just need to release the ball earlier, they had most of the play on their side of the field. We would've scored a few more goals if they just got their heads up and saw players who were free. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later. Both played with real spirit today though. Cory got a knock to his leg late on and was struggling to run, we had no subs so he had to limp on. It's amazing how quickly the pain goes away when he was through on goal though. We scored a nice goal at the death, Owen passed into Liam, then to Mason who drove at the defence, he cut it back to Liam who passed to Cory who smashed it home from 15 yards, job done. 3-0 win.
Another tough game were we had to dig deep to get the result. It could've easily been 6-7 though, we had a lot of chances, if they had of pinched one when it was 2-0 who knows what would've happened.

Match report v Joondalup City

9-1 win last week, this was going to be a lot tougher. Joondalup have come down from the Blue Division.
The game started weird, we scored in the first minute, then they scored a minute later, and that was it till half time. Our goal was very nice, we had a throw in in our attacking half, Cory threw it to Owen, a pass backwards to Aaron who in turn passed it backwards to Madison, who then did a lovely through ball from our defensive half to Mason who turned and slotted it in, great goal. They got lucky with a shot that skidded passed Jacob's near post. It was fairly even till half time, no one really got on top. 1-1.
Our 2nd halves this season have been really good, I was confident we could go on with it.
Joondalup had a chance to score early on, but Jacob made a good save. I gave Owen & Aaron instructions to drive at them and shoot this half, because they would have the wind behind them. They did it a couple of times, the best one was Owen's, he picked up the ball in our half, ran at them for 15 yards then unleashed a fierce shot that went in the top corner from about 20m out, 2-1 up. The lads confidence really started to grow after that. Owen was involved again for our next goal, he won the ball in a tackle, passed to Cory who turned and slammed it in from 10 yards out, we were getting on top. Jacob was doing great in goal too, he stopped everything in the second half that came his way. Madison was superb again at centre half, he tackled and passed brilliantly. Cameron was following instructions perfectly, Liam was controlling the middle and Aaron & Owen had complete control on their left side. Conor was winning his duel and Cory & Mason ran all day. We scored again through Liam, he camped himself in the middle, waited for their keeper to take the goal kick, poached it off a player and scored with his right foot, great play, 4-1 up. We were playing really well. TJ didn't play that much today, he had been sick all week and didn't train on Friday, he did ok though. We scored again through Cory, who was having a good game. Owen intercepted a goal kick, gave it to Cory who drilled it passed their hapless keeper. Our relentless pressure was outstanding in the 2nd half, we had about 6 corners and made their keeper work hard.
All players did their job this week again, it's coming together nicely. They just need to pass quicker and shoot more often if we really want to dominate the league, especially in the wet. A good day for Carramar.

Match report round 2 v Westside...

Coming off a 5-0 win against Floreat last game, the lads were confident they could do the same this Sunday. The game was fairly even at the start, not many chances, but good end to end football. I thought, we've got a game on here. We got on top and scored first through Liam after 10mins, banging home from close range after a goal mouth scramble. We got a 2nd through an own goal, Cory crossed the ball along the ground in front of their goal, a defender stuck his leg out and it went in, Cameron was waiting behind him to score if he had of missed it. Westside started to drop their heads, Cory scored again shortly after and we were well in control, half time 3-0.
We scored really early in the 2nd half with Cory slamming one home from the in box. Then came Aaron's moment of glory, he doesn't like playing at left back, but he does so well there. He picked up the ball in our half, drove at the opposition with his pace and went around 3-4 defenders and scored a cracker from 15 yards, great goal, even the opposing parents clapped at it. We were completely on top now, Madison was a real rock at the back, with Jacob behind him talking to everyone it was very pleasing. Conor and TJ were controlling the right side, TJ was doing a great job for his first game at this level. Cameron got stuck in when needed and did some nice passing too. Liam scored his 2nd goal with some nice play out left between Owen & Aaron. We were 6-0 up when I changed things around a bit, Owen went on the right, TJ to left back and Cameron to left mid. It seemed to work really well as Cory went on a one man rampage on their goal. He scored the last 4 goals, one a great volley from Mason's cross, another from turning his defender on the by-line and scoring passed the keeper on his near post. Owen should of scored a couple at the end but couldn't use his right foot to tuck em away. We will work on that with him. Liam was great again in the middle of the park, he scored and set up some goals and his tackling was first rate. Jacob was solid in goal again, I think they only had 2 shots on goal. Mason didn't score, but had a few assists. Conor was unbeatable at right back.
We came away with a 10-0 win.
All in all a great performance by the lads. Big test next week, Inglewood at home.

Season wrap...

What a year, 18 games, 14 wins & 127 goals....

We started with a 3-2 win at home, against Maccabi... All I wanted from the lads was improvement from the start of the year to the finish. Sure we had some hiccups along the way, but I feel we achieved our goal. There were some outstanding performances by the players. You can't always play at 100%, but if someone was having an off day, someone else would pick it up and get the team going.
Best games: Inglewood away, ECU away, Subiaco away & Ellenbrook home. Tough teams who play well. I think the Inglewood one just shaves it, the way they played that day was world class. Sure we won games scoring 10, 12, 13 goals, but sometimes you don't learn much from them.
Worst game: ECU home, we weren't at our best that day, we still played ok, I think they wanted it more because we beat them quite easily in the first round.

Best goals: 5 come to mind, Toby's volley against Sorrento away, Cory's header against Subiaco away, Owen's winner against ECU away, Aaron's cracker against Sorrento at home & Toby's thunderbolt in the last game against Westside...

I tried not to change too many positions for the lads, but sometimes they have to get out of their comfort zone. Daniel played everywhere bar in goal, Toby is very versatile, changing from forward to midfield, the defence changed along the line with all of them getting a taste of the opposite side. I think they are coming along swimmingly, just need to talk a bit more, that will come with age.

All in all, I think we had a great season, some new players came in and the team gelled right from the start.
A big thank you to all the parents who helped out. Cutting oranges, reffing games, putting the goals up and letting your kids play at Carramar...

Player Rating:

Matthew: 7.5 - didn't have much to do in most games, but did make some important saves when needed.
Conor: 8 - another good year playing at right back, rarely got beaten and is a pleasure to have in the team.
Madison: 8.5 - started slowly, then got better with each game, his tackling and reading of the play is superb.
Jacob: 8 - he slotted nicely in the defence, finished up playing a few games at right back and loved it. His tackling went from strength to strength as the year went on.
Khodi 7.5 - having never played a game before I was a bit worried, he ended being first choice left back. Excellent tackler and passer of the ball.
Kaelan: 9 - an outstanding year from him, he played out right and gave the opposition players hell with his skill. Scored some long range goals too.
Daniel: 9 - he was the marshall out there, running himself into the ground every game, never gave up and scored some nice goals.
Owen: 7.5 - great athlete who used his pace well down the left. Scored some crucial goals, did pick up an injury that halted him a little, once fit again ran rings around the opposition.
Aaron: 7 - missed some games from injuring his foot. Finished the season off well with some good games, his running and shooting was right up there.
Mason: 7 - did some really good plays up front, scored 20+ goals, he ran well at keepers and is a real team player.
Toby: 9 - his technical ability is first class, scored 28 goals, some from long range. His passing and movement is wonderful, great player to coach and watch.
Cory: 7 - scored 31 goals, just knows where to be to score. Scored about 6 goals from headers, likes to put himself about in the opposition goal.

10/08/2014

Today's game was arguably our most important. Inglewood beat us 3-2 last round. I was nervous, but quietly confident, because we have improved immensely since then.

The lads were all pumped up for it, I could see it in their actions before the game, they wanted revenge!
We couldn't of started any better, dominating the play all over the park. They were passing well and talking too. Toby scored first, a great team goal. With about 4-5 passes between our boys, they had Inglewood chasing shadows, Kaelan crossed for Toby to volley home from 5 yards. We started to really put the pressure on them! Cory was at his poaching best again, scoring from close range soon after.
Aaron was starting to grow with confidence playing at left mid, he had a cracking shot from 25 yards that just skimmed the cross bar, if it hadn't been sagging, would've gone in. Madison, Conor and Khodi kept their attacks to a minimum, they only had one corner in the first half, Matthew touched the ball once, we were completely on top. Cory and Daniel scored again quickly with some nice build up play, Daniel's was a left foot toe punt into the top left corner, 4-0 up at half time.
I changed things a bit to start the 2nd half. Owen had to come off, his ankle was sore and he was limping. Khodi still isn't 100% either with his, so Conor went left and Jacob to right back. Inglewood came out hard, they managed to get the ball forward and their tall lad out jumped everyone and headed the ball over Matthew. The next goal was crucial, we were a bit unsettled for a few mins, they were playing with 3 up front. Inglewood tried to get back into the game, but, every time they came forward, Madison, Conor & Jacob read their passes and cleared it to our lads. Madison was especially good today, he won a lot of tackles and was a real rock at the back.
Kaelan got the important next goal, after that it was going to be how many? Cory poached another and you could see them drop their heads. Daniel and Toby were running the show and with Kaelan and Aaron out wide, we passed our way around the whole park today. Toby really makes a difference out there, he is so composed on the ball, his vision and passing are great. Mason did some goods runs at their keeper with the ball and was unlucky not to have a goal or two. Jacob was growing in strength and tackled well all game, he seemed to really like playing at right back. Aaron did some great work in the 2nd half, he chased back to win balls, drove at them with pace and should've scored a goal, if not for their keeper. Daniel came off in the dying minutes after a bad tackle. He had another outstanding game. The ref gave a drop ball, from this, Kaelan won it and weaved his way around three defenders before shooting with his left, the keeper managed to save it, but it spilled out and Cory was on hand to smash it in, game over!
The boys were absolutely awesome today, you could tell they were determined to win, they got stuck in when needed, shot when it was on and passed liked champions. Couldn't be more proud. We need to back it up next week though, if they play like today for the rest of the season we should win every game.

Match Report v Sorrento...

We won 13-2 last outing...

The lads were a bit sluggish today. I think they thought it was going to be easy again. They got a bit of a shock, Sorrento have improved a lot. We did dominate the game though, they really only had one shot on goal. If half of our shots had gone in, it would of been 10. Their keeper was arguably their best.
Aaron got the goals started with his first for the year, it was a cracker too. We played the ball around a bit then got it to Aaron, from 20 yards he shot first time & it hit the right post and went in. Cory scored a nice goal shortly after, he received a through ball, ran at goal, the keeper came out and he managed to flick the ball over his head with the outside of his right boot. We went in half time 2-0.
Sorrento pulled a goal back, again through our mistakes, we lost the ball trying to turn players, they won it and scored passed Matthew. The boys didn't drop their heads though, they rarely do, we kept on peppering their goal. Shortly after we regained the two goal advantage. Kaelan was dominating his wing again, he took players on and did some nice crosses, he scored 2 goals. Daniel was outstanding today, he ran down opponents, blocked, tackled & shot all game, he scored a nice goal too, from 20 yards. Aaron & Owen played well, they just have to stop being so close to each other. Owen got passed their defenders quite easily today, he just needs to get the ball into the box quicker, it will come though, he gets better each week. Madison is lovely to watch at the back, he never panics. Conor got some nice crosses in today, he had a lot of time on the ball. Jacob, coming back from illness, did his job perfectly again, talking to the lads and tackling well. Toby & Cory were on their own up front today, as Mason was away, Toby did a great job setting up a couple of goals. Cory could of had a few more goals if not for their keeper. Khodi's ankle is still a bit sore, so he rested it today. Matthew had some goal kicks that he took well.
It was a great birthday present from the lads, winning 5-1.

In the end it was another win, they just got a bit frustrated that we couldn't score as freely as last week and were trying to walk the ball into the net. It was a good lesson for them the learn.

Thank you all for the cards and gifts and Jaquie for the cake, it was delicious...

I saved a penalty in my game, that's 2 in 2 weeks, but we went down 3-2 :(

Match report v Floreat...

Great win by the players today. Jacob was unavailable as he was sick. We started well with Daniel controlling the play in the middle. Kaelan was winning everything at right mid, he really bosses the game with his superior size. Owen and Khodi were dominating their left side, Khodi really losses a tackle. Mason opened the scoring, he also got a headed goal from a corner & missed a sitter. We really were dominating the game again, all players played their part. Toby was outstanding again, I asked him to have more shots from outside the box in the 2nd half & he scored a nice hat trick with two of them coming from 20-25 yards out. The lads did a lot of 1-2 passes today, it's really coming along. It really showed with the goal of the game. We played the ball out from the back, Conor to Daniel onto Toby, back to Daniel, then onto Kaelan who took on a defender crossed the ball for Cory to head home from the back post, it was our 100th goal of the year too. All the parents were really impressed with that bit of play. Aaron scored an own goal for them, he couldn't do much about it, it went in off his left boot as he was running and swung at it. He nearly scored one for us, a cracking swerving shot from distance that hit the corner of the upright. Matthew didn't have much to do apart from a few goal kicks. Owen scored a goal and hit the cross bar with another shot, he was running up and down all day. Conor's 2nd half was great, he won tackles and passed really well. Madison was brilliant, he really is coming along, he was winning the ball at all costs, when he did get beaten, he ran them down and got a last ditch tackle in. Really impressed with his work rate. Cory, Mason & Toby did great too, they scored 9 goals between them.
We came away with a 10-1 win...

The lads were asked to play another game afterwards, Floreat's under 11's opponents didn't turn up. They all said yes! We dominated this game too, we beat them easily 8-1.
We hit the woodwork twice aswell. Great Sunday for Carramar...

Not much to report, we won 13-1...

The lads all played well, is hard not to play a team structure when you're winning like this. But our boys did for most of the match... We just need to keep playing our way and keep the results up. The passing was good as was the talking. We were missing Khodi & Conor too.

Match report v Maccabi away...

It's the start of round 2... We won the reverse fixture 3-2 against them... We started the game brilliantly. From the kickoff we made 4-5 passes and nearly scored a goal, they didn't get near it. It was one way traffic after that. It took us a little while to score, Toby finished off a nice move from a corner. We went 2-0 up shortly after, with Kaelan's long shot taking a deflection off a defenders leg. This next bit was a bit weird. They had the kickoff from our last goal, as the ref blew his whistle for half time, their player kicked the ball forward, Jacob got a slight touch to it and it went in our goal with Matthew leaving it. With all our players not knowing what was going on, the ref gave a goal! It wasn't the right call as the whistle had already gone before the ball went in. It didn't really affect us though, as it was their only shot in the 1st half. I started the 2nd half with Owen on the right and Kaelan on the left. They both did really well, with Kaelan having a great run and shot which just went wide. Owen got some nice crosses in and his tackling was great. Daniel was running the middle, his passing was awesome again today. Jacob, Aaron, Conor and Madison stood firm at the back. Their talking is coming along nicely. Conor had a run at right mid and did an excellent job, he could have scored a goal too. Khodi didn't put a foot wrong at left mid and left back. Mason and Cory found it a bit hard to get in the game, Maccabi's pitch was really small. They both like to make runs across the pitch but couldn't do it today. Mason scored a poachers goal at the end though. Toby showed them how it's done, he came deeper to receive the ball and ran at Maccabi with pace and power, helping himself to a hat-trick. Goal of the game came from Daniel, he won the ball at half way, ran straight at their goal getting around 4 players then dropping his left shoulder, made the keeper go the wrong way and cooly finished it to the right, great to watch. Matthew didn't have much to do again, he had a few goal kicks though, which he played short to the players, this was good to see, as we started to build it from the back. The lads finished the game full of running. We came away with a 7-1 win. Lunch after the game at Maccas was better with the taste of victory!

Carramar FC playing home to Westside
12-0 win to the lads

22/06/2014

Match report v Westside FC...

This will be a shorter report today.

We won 12-0.

The lads all played exceptional well. Their passing and talking is growing better each week. It didn't take us long to score, Owen opened it by putting away a nice finish. That's 2 in 2 for him. Cory was at his poaching best today, helping himself to 4. Kaelan scored another cracker, he received the ball in the middle, took on a player and let rip with an unstoppable shot from 20m.
Matthew had another quite day in goal, the defenders cleared the ball so well, he didn't get a look in. All in all we played the way I've wanted them to all season, it's finally come together in the last 2 weeks. We have to keep going though, there is always room to improve.
Daniel played really well again, his tackling and passing is great. Jacob's reading of the play helps out the other players too, he does a good job back there. Madison gets better too, he passed some balls today. Toby looked all class with 2 goals. Mason got into some nice positions and did a lovely turn with 2 players on him. Conor and Khodi controlled the left and right side of defence. Aaron, playing his first game for awhile did well with some good tackles.
Owen grows better with each game, his running is great and he had some assists again.

Carramar FC v ECU Joondalup 15/06/2014

1-0 win

15/06/2014

Match report v ECU...

This was going to be a tough game. They've come up from under 9's last year, they have won every game in our division since coming up. To me they are the best under 9's in the north... We still had Aaron injured and Kaelan was sick. We started really well, we had them on the back foot for the first 10 mins. We had a few good shots on goal, from distance, but their keeper was pretty good. Daniel was winning the duel in the middle, Jacob & Madison cleared the ball well every time they made an attack. ECU started to have more of the ball late into the half. They had a couple of chances to score, but we managed to get a boot in at the right moment or clear the ball away at the last minute. Every one was working hard to defend. Daniel received the ball from Owen, turned and had a shot on goal from about 20m out, it dipped at the last moment and hit the crossbar. The half finished 0-0, I think we shaded it bit, with more shots on goal.
We started the 2nd half like the first, Owen was linking up well with the forwards, Khodi was solid at left back, Toby was dominating the right side, he won a lot the ball and passed it well. Daniel was running himself into the ground again, winning tackles and shooting. Cory and Mason both had a decent game, they didn't get much time on the ball as they would of liked, as ECU were closing them down early, but they did a great team job by running into the right positions and being targets up front. Jacob did a stella job in central defence again, he read the play well and won a lot of tackles at the right time. We scored a great team goal late in the half. Conor won the ball at right back, got it to Toby who took on a player, ran down the wing, looked up and saw Owen on the other side and passed a lovely ball to him. Owen took a touch and cooly slotted the ball across the keeper from 15m out... We had another great chance a few minutes later with the ball just going wide of the post. ECU had a few corners after that, but we stood strong. We worked on defending corners at training on Friday, it must of worked, as the boys cleared it every time. Daniel then gave away a free kick about 20m out, we've worked on defending these too. As soon they touched it, Cory closed them down and the ball hit his leg and went out to safety. The ECU players who were off the pitch tried to put Matthew off in goal, but he stood strong and made some decent saves. To ECU's credit, they didn't give up, if not for Khodi making a great last ditch tackle they could of scored with seconds remaining. The whistle went and we had done it, 1-0 win... ECU are a great side, they pass well and have some great skills. I think our bigger bodies and our ability to close them down early got us the win. All the players did their jobs again, we are getting stronger each week... A clean sheet against a team like that is really pleasing.

A big congrats to Nicola & Martin on the birth of another addition to the Carramar team, Oliver...

Carramar FC Under 10s Green Vs Ellenbrook 08/06/2014
08/06/2014

Match Report v Ellenbrook...

6-2 win

We couldn't of started any worse today. From our kick off, they intercepted the ball and went down and scored. Quickest goal I've ever seen. It was probably a good thing to happen, it woke the lads up. They never drop their heads though and got straight back into the game with some nice play. Kaelan got the equaliser a short time later, some good work from Daniel got the ball to him and he hit a cracking shot, which hit the back upright in the goal. He hit it so good, the keeper didn't even see it and thought it hit the front post. We started to boss the game after that. Jacob and Madison were controlling their forwards, Daniel was chasing everything, Toby, Cory & Mason were putting their defence under a lot of pressure. We went 2-1 up after Cory scored another headed goal from a corner. We then let them back into the game with some soft defending. The lads are getting better at it, but in this instance we couldn't clear the ball and they scored an easy goal. We didn't deserve that one, we were completely on top of them. It just goes to show we have to concentrate for the full game. We then took control again with two goals to Cory & Mason, both from inside their box, it is good to see them getting into the right positions to score. Half time 4-2 up. They started the 2nd half by putting two defenders really deep. It didn't really matter, we had more shots and possession. They had a few shots at our goal, but Matthew was up to the challenge and kept a clean sheet in the 2nd half. Mason got his 2nd goal of the game when he poached another one. Cory completed his hatrick when Kaelan took a nice free kick from the left, Cory flicked it on with his head, it touched the finger tips of their keeper and went over into the goal, Daniel headed it in, he was over the line but the goal still stood. They tried to complain about it, but the ball was touched before it got to him and was already over the line. We finished the game well with all players getting a good run. Toby did a great job again, his skills get him out of tricky situations, he also got an assist. Khodi and Conor did some great defending out wide. It's good to see the lads are listening to instructions, Conor did very well in the 2nd half. Owen had another good game too, he crossed some nice balls in again today. Madison reads the game really well and cleaned up beautifully in defence. Daniel ran himself into the ground today, he linked up well Owen, Toby & Kaelan. Jacobs tackling is great to watch, he did some last ditch ones today. All in all, they weren't a bad team, I think we just out muscled them and our team work got us the win. A big happy birthday to Mason too!
