Art and craft pals....I'm looking to hook up with a cabinetmaker or carpenter who has American cherry wood that they can cut to 3/4" x 3/4" and 3/4 x 1 1/4" long strips for me. Cheap, free, or trade for artwork is preferred. I make wooden tools for sculpting and my old source for wood has moved out of town. Please comment or DM with suggestions.

Tennessee Craft’s virtual one-hour Lunch & Learn training sessions feature art and craft industry leaders sharing their secrets to success. Guest speakers offer practical tips you can implement yourself and answer your questions. The series is free for current Tennessee Craft members, and non-members can register for $10 per session or $30 for the monthly series. Recordings are available to registrants, but real-time attendees also have a chance to interact with speakers and win door prizes!

Tennessee Craft proudly presents the Statewide Member Exhibition at the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center in Clarksville TN. This exhibition is a celebration and showcase of contemporary craft highlighting 75 artworks made by our Tennessee Craft Members. The exhibition will be on display from September 1 until October 26, with an artist reception on September 14th from 5-7pm.

The Emerging Makers Tent (EMT) applications for the 45th Annual Fall Tennessee Craft Fair (October 13, 14 & 15) are open until August 12 at 11:59 pm CST!
The EMT occurs at every Tennessee Craft fair as an exclusive opportunity for member artists interested in taking their craft business to the next level. In the EMT, groups of artists from each chapter work together in a supportive environment to gain practical experience selling their artwork. This experience is designed to help emerging makers take the next step toward exhibiting as independent artists on the main tent circle at Tennessee Craft fairs. Applicants who identify as part of an underrepresented population can request up to $500 total to be used towards advancing their personal craft art practice.

The Current Art Fund seeks to support visual artists and artist collectives in creating independent, non-traditional, public-facing projects that contribute to the rich dialogue within contemporary visual art scenes across the state of Tennessee. The fund annually disburses grants totaling $60,000 to Tennessee-based artists 21 years of age and older in support of project expenses.

Our June Maker Meetup was on Self Help for Artists and included a fun collage activity. We talked about collage as a means for simple, spontaneous self expression and a vehicle for uncovering unconscious content. Great fun! Our next Maker Meet Up is August 17. TN Craft Midstate members are invited to apply for an exhibition to be held during the month of July 2023 at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library in Brentwood, TN.
The exhibit aims to include 1-3 Midstate artists to show work in four large, locked display cases measuring 32” x 80” x 11”.

REMINDER: The Customs House Museum Exhibition, for Statewide Tennessee Craft Members, is due May 15, 2023
Tennessee Craft will offer a unique opportunity for members to exhibit at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville in September and October 2023. All listed craft mediums in the member application (including the newly approved medium: Drawing!) are eligible for consideration in this juried exhibition.
