🌱🍅 Recipe Spotlight: Tomato-Basil Grilled Wild Salmon 🍅🌱

Who else loves a nutritious meal that’s quick to prepare and leaves no cleanup? 🙋‍♀️

This wild salmon recipe is not only a powerhouse of protein and omega-3s but also versatile enough to suit any meal plan. Whether you’re in the mood for something light or a more filling dish, this salmon has got you covered.

👉 For a lighter touch, pair it with a crisp garden salad.
👉 Craving more? Serve it atop a bed of warm brown rice.

And the best part? Any leftovers make a perfect addition to tomorrow's lunch salad!

Here’s how to whip it up:

🔹 Ingredients (serves 4):

▪️ 2 cloves garlic, minced
▪️ 1 tsp sea salt, divided
▪️ 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
▪️ 1 whole wild salmon fillet (about 1½ lbs or 680 g)
▪️ ⅓ cup plus ¼ cup thinly sliced fresh basil, divided (about 15g + 10g, divided)
▪️ 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
▪️ ¼ tsp freshly ground pepper

🔹 Directions:

Prep: Preheat your grill to medium (or oven to 425ºF/220ºC).

Garlic Paste: Mash minced garlic with half the salt on a cutting board to form a paste. Mix with olive oil.

Salmon Prep: Check for bones and place salmon skin-side down on a foil-lined tray.

Assemble: Spread garlic paste over salmon, top with ⅓ cup basil and arrange tomato slices. Season with remaining salt and pepper.

Cook: Grill or bake for 10-12 minutes on the grill or about 20 minutes in the oven until the fish flakes easily.

Serve: Garnish with remaining basil and enjoy!

Hey! How’s your journey into the 40s been?

Mine? Well, let’s just say my usual tricks suddenly stopped working. And now at 47, perimenopause has added an extra layer of complexity—did you experience this too?

Early in my 40s I jumped from vegetarian to paleo, searching for that “perfect diet” solution.

Spoiler alert: It was a total dead end. 😅 I felt restricted, drained, and—believe it or not—even ended up anemic.

That’s when I had a major breakthrough.

I tossed out those restrictive diet labels and tuned into what my body really needed, thanks to my health coach training.

Now, my diet? It’s all about a balanced mix of whole foods, cutting back on refined sugar (though I still treat myself now and then—because why not?).

I’m not chasing perfection; I’m all about making mindful choices that enhance the joy of living.

And here’s the real talk: it’s not just about losing weight. It’s about transforming your wellness from the ground up.

Power Up: High-Protein Breakfast Ideas 💪

💪 5 Energizing High-Protein Breakfast Ideas:

🫐 Greek Yogurt Parfait
Blend 1 cup (230 g) of plain low-fat Greek yogurt (approx. 20g protein) with a handful of almonds and fresh berries.
(Optional) Sweeten with a drizzle of honey for extra flavor.

🥣 Protein-Packed Oatmeal
Prepare ½ cup (40 g) of rolled oats with your preferred milk instead of water (follow package instructions).
After cooking, stir in a scoop of protein powder (approx. 15g protein) and 1 Tbsp of chia seeds (2g protein). Finish with a dollop of almond butter.

I often get questions about food — what to eat, when to eat, and so on.

The truth is, you can never go wrong with whole “real” foods — those that aren’t manufactured and don’t come with a laundry list of ingredients.

But… there are some foods that can give you that extra edge when it comes to revving up your metabolism.

The key? Opt for foods rich in protein, fiber, and essential minerals!

🍏 Here are 5 Metabolism-Boosting Superfoods:

🍖 Lean Meat (turkey, bison, chicken)
Protein-rich meats not only help you build and maintain muscle but also crank up your metabolic rate by 15–30%.

🐟 Fish and Seafood
Packed with protein and crucial minerals, they support thyroid function — a major player in your metabolism!

🌱 Legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas, etc.)
As a top plant-based protein source, legumes also contain resistant starch, a prebiotic fiber that fuels good gut bacteria. These bacteria produce short-chain fatty acids, aiding your body in utilizing stored fat for energy.

✅ Inhale slowly through your nose, feeling your stomach rise.
✅ Exhale through pursed lips, engaging your core.
✅ Keep the hand over your chest steady; focus on the belly’s movement.
