This cancer will likely take my life in the next 1 to 3 years. In the meantime, while I can still walk, I plan to do exactly that. I am walking long distance pilgrimages and paths around the world with the hope of bringing awareness and making a difference. Starting in Le Puy, France this August (2017) I will walk an extended route of the well known Camino de Santiago. Once I have completed this a
lmost 2000 kilometer walk, I will return home to Amsterdam to regroup and plan the next walk if I am still capable. My hope is that this charity does not represent me and not end when I do, rather that it represents those I aim to help and be carried forward by others joining the cause once I am gone. Wherever there is a footpath and the heart to help others, Camino4Cancer stands as a platform to launch yourself into the great wide open and make a difference for those who suffer. Through your selflessness we can reach and help more and more people as we walk toward the future. Although I recognize the importance of cancer research, I view this illness from the perspective of the victim as I have seen and experienced first-hand how quickly life can fall apart in the face of an illness. Therefore, donations received by Camino4Cancer will be distributed through various cancer centers around the world directly to patients to help increase the quality of life for those who are suffering. Facing future I turn my eyes to the road ahead. All are welcome to come along on this journey.
