We have been a little bit quiet on here of late. We have been on with wedding cake tasters this week. Lots of delicious combinations. I wonder which flavours will be chosen?

I absolutely love an autumn wedding and we had the honour of making this burnt orange with autumnal foliage cake for the lovely S&A 🍂 The wedding was at the beautiful and the couple chose a delicious Zesty St Clements and White chocolate raspberry cake to celebrate the big day! I had the absolute honour of designing my sibling and brother-in-laws ‘through the looking glass’ inspired wedding cake!

I loved using the z frame spacer from .options to create a floating effect for the top tier! The remaining tiers were painted using cocoa butter pigments. Such a special cake to make ☺️

On Saturday, we headed over to to set up this elegant green and ivory wedding cake for the lovely A&N! The couple chose sticky toffee pudding, white chocolate raspberry and Malteser cakes decorated with sugar flowers and foliage. Wishing all the best to the happy couple!

🌿Our new arrival 🌿

We have been a little quiet for the past few weeks. Our littlest member of team Wild Thistle arrived safely just over a week ago. I thought it would be nice, having been Mother’s Day at the weekend, to touch base and say hi!

We are taking a little bit of time away from the kitchen as our little one settles in with the exception of a few weddings. We will be back in the Summer taking limited orders.

This week we are looking at cake samples and the initial process of booking your wedding cake. A cake tasting is such a fun part of planning a wedding. We offer taster boxes throughout the year that you can try before or during your booking process.

You can select a variety of flavours from our menu and we can help pair flavours that work together. We send your tasters to you via post to taste and enjoy at your leisure. Once flavours have been decided, we move onto pencilling your date into the diary and begin to discuss design.

This time last year I was beginning to design this very special cake for our son Freddie! It was such a special year for all his wee pals and although lockdown didn’t allow us to celebrate their first year in the way we had hoped for at the time, it was so lovely to make their special birthday cakes! Now to start planning Mr.Fred’s 2nd birthday cake!

Hi! I thought I would reintroduce myself as I haven’t shown my face in a while! I am Sophie, one of the two faces behind Wild Thistle Cake Design. We are a small family run business specialising in wedding and occasion cakes. We are based in South Aberdeenshire and love creating bespoke and modern designs with delicious flavoursome cakes. We have a limited diary for 2022 so please do send us a message as soon as you can to confirm dates and we will do our very best to get you booked into the calendar!

We hope everyone has had a lovely festive season. This fun fox cake was one of my final cakes of the year. Orange buttercream swirls and fondant details finished this classic vanilla cake!

While it is blowing a hooley outside and we are busy at work prepping for tomorrow, we thought we would throw back to a couple of weekends ago! I love the details on this cake from the pearls cascading to the simple and classic sugar flowers tying into the bride’s bouquet. It really was such a fun cake to create!
