Try this home workout – with or without the equipment I have- here is what you will do: 30 min workout. Last night was a very special night for our family. My mom’s dad and our Grandpa and our kids GG was on @60minutes! We all know how lucky we are to have him around and how incredibly special he is and it has been an honor watching him in this over 90’s study for @ucirvine for the last 9 years. He is sharp as can be and he has always been a very active and energetic man. If you have been working out and working out consistently, you do need to take a break or what I love to do is an active recovery workout! Why is this beneficial! Active recovery is often considered more beneficial than inactivity, resting completely, or sitting. It can keep blood flowing and help muscles recover and rebuild from intense physical activity. Avoid active recovery if you're injured or in a lot of pain, though. There are days when rest is what your body needs but other times, taking a more active approach is the best way to boost recovery from exercise! I love the different options we have to share! First –building muscle reduces injury – this is a good one especially as we age! Muscle imbalances, poorly conditioned hamstrings and a lack of mobility will lead to a number of issues, including back and knee pain! Squats, lunges and deadlifts will help develop your hamstrings, build muscle around weak joints and help promote stability and mobility! All really good things for us! Second, and this I talked a little bit about yesterday, Muscle burns more calories – and legs are BIG muscles! When you workout bigger muscles, it requires more energy, which means your body burns more fat! So you see, leg day is important and lifting weights will help!
