Here is a curious little story. 29 years ago we were the first band on at a show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. It was just a regular show for us, one of our many appearances in the USA in 1995 but there was some additional technology in the house that night because, for the first time ever, the concert was going to be streamed over the internet. According to this article, this means Moist was the first band to perform “on internet”. We have seen bit of info in various news sources over the years, but recently came across this clipping from Toronto Star that explains it!
30 years ago today, just as we were finishing editing our first video and loading the van to drive from Vancouver to Calgary to start another winter trek across Canada, boxes of our brand new CD, Silver, arrived from the manufacturer. We started selling them off stage the next night, and were happy to see a few sold at every show. By the time we reached Ontario MuchMusic had started playing “Push” and suddenly we were selling dozens every night. A bunch of other great things happened and eventually over 400,000 copies had been sold. So happy 30th to Silver! Check out the “Album in an Hour”podcast to hear what these music fans have to say about it. (And check out other episodes of their very fun show where they discuss IME, OLP, BNL and other Canadian bands).
