It’s been a longer than usually rainy season here in Hawaii, and tournament weekend started off no different! BUT! It ended with sunshine and medals! All Teams brought their A Games! And the sense of camaraderie was felt across the fields tournament weekend! Congratulations to the Placing Teams!!

SHAKA has had a busy couple weeks!

May 6th and 7th our Spring Tournament was held. American Thunder came out on top beating Lady Spartans for 1st place. 🥇 It was a significant game considering it was the final season for both teams.

Yesterday we presented awards at the Allstar event. The league donated $3000 to Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Katie Durbin was voted by the league as sweetest player for the season and All the Signal Ladies were voted sweetest team.

Following awards, our two Allstar teams competed against each other. Teams nominated two players per team and were each split to different teams to play each other. It was a fun afternoon at the fields.

Stay tuned for upcoming summer events and for details on Fall season. Games will start in August.

Ladies, fundraiser #2! Taking orders now! $20 for a visor, $20 for cap. There is a minimum order requirement in order to get production underway. Visors will need a minimum of 35 orders and caps will need a minimum of 35 orders. I was informed it will take about 4 weeks to complete. I’d like to open this order NOW and get ordered ASAP (must meet the 35 minimum first, and pre-pay). You can Venmo me or pay cash.

I’m so excited for us all to get on the fields and truly encompass all 3 pillars of SHAKA, Camaraderie , Competition and Charity !!!

Not listing the entire game line-up, but wanted to explain a little:

12:30-FT Hase 1: Dare Devils vs Lady Warriors
(Lava Ladies Ump, Easy Riders Scorekeep)
12:30-FT Hase 2: Lady Spartans vs Lady Chaos
(The Longboards Ump, American Thunder Scorekeep)
12:30-PMO 1 Lucky Lionesses vs Trixie Chicks
(Ohana Warriors cover Ump and Scorekeep)
FIELD DUTY: FT Hase, Dare Devils/Lady Warriors
FIELD DUTY: PMO, Lucky Lionesses/Trixie Chicks
A quick recap- if you are the only team listed for duty, that team covers ump and scorekeeps. For "field duty" your entire team does not need to be there but for sure a small handful to help when you are the 1st game(s) and when you are listed at the end of the day for field clean up. This will directly be associated with incentive points for tournament under camaraderie. It should not take but more than 30 min to set up and even less time to clean up. Remember this is a league for the spouses, by the spouses 🙂

Aloha all! We have decided to OPEN Ump camp to include players. Ump camp will be this Sunday, Aug 1. It will be held at Ft Hase field 1 and we are holding 2 sessions. Both sessions will cover the same basic principals of SHAKA Ordinances. I encourage you all to read through SHAKA ordinance as they are different from other leagues you may have played for.

The 1st session will be from 10a-11:30 and the 2nd session will be from 12-1:30p.

If there are questions or clarifications that need addressing, please let me know so that we can be prepared to explain any and all situations.

Attention, if you’ve been thinking about playing kickball, we are actively looking for ladies whose spouse is affiliated with Tripler. OR….. if your spouses unit DOES NOT have a team and you want to play, now is the time to contact me via a private message. Our 1st SHAKA Sunday is Aug 8th 🤙🏽.

Aloha fellow BALL-kickers. A small change has been made to the SHAKA name (well, clarification). Though SHAKA is a kickball league “for the spouses by the spouses”, it’s a league specifically for females. Just want to be sure there aren’t any misconceptions 🤙🏽.

What’s that sound you hear???? Ohhhhhh just a bunch of BALLS being KICKED!!!!!!

Ladies, if you have yet to commit to practice because of the unknown of when games will begin, well…. now is the time.

Game schedule is tentatively set and will soon be on blast for all to see. Please take this time to make contact with your coach. If you wish to join a team, please reach out to this page via messenger to be placed on the appropriate team.

Hope y’all have been getting some practice time in.

A quick summary about persons interested in joining the SHAKA league.

1- if your spouses unit/squadron has a SHAKA kickball team, you will be assigned to that team.

2- if no team, you will be placed on a team who has a need for players. Please reach out via private message on this page and you will be directed to a team.

3- CURRENTY, there are no fees due to this not being a “true/full” season. Coaches will review with players.

4- Current base conditions (with command base approval) allows SHAKA to hold practice with groups of 10 (along with other mitigation strategies, coaches are aware and will inform players). Practice days and times are decided by each team.

***coaches, if you have a player not affiliated with your unit team, please confirm placement occurred via SHAKA commissioners.

I’m sure many players will have questions, but please remain patient as there are many moving parts. We will be discussing forward movement as a league and are excited to do what is necessary to precede safely and within the guidance set forth by the CDC and MCBH.
