2023/2024 Season Update
Following the AGM on Sunday 27th August, I can confirm we now have 14 teams for the upcoming season. Having lost the Greencroft, we have gained 3 new teams - a second team playing from Felling Cricket Club, a new team from the Nursery House Club and a last minute addition from the Holly Hill.
At the AGM, clubs voted to remove the double start rule. Going forward, the league will now be regulation start. There was also a request to have some more competition nights pre Xmas - teams were reminded that in order for this to happen, all competition entries would need to be handed in at the first league meeting of the season.
Fixtures for the first two weeks will be posted online. A full calendar will then be handed out to team reps at the first league meeting of the season on 24th September.
Just a quick update to let you all know that I am waiting to hear back about a 14th team in the league.
Your opening fixtures will be posted early next week once finalised.
REMINDER
AGM is this Sunday at Midday at Felling Cricket Club.
Just a quick reminder now that we're into August, the AGM is at the back end of this month.
I've had interest from a few new teams that would like to join the league. All teams wishing to join the league should attend the AGM. All current teams should have their venues sorted by the AGM so we can finalise numbers for the coming season, allowing me to complete and distribute fixtures.
Important dates are below:
AGM - Sunday 27th August
Start Date for 23/24 - Friday 15th September
Sunday saw the final meeting of the 22/23 season.
Important dates:
AGM - Sunday 27th August
Start Date for 23/24 - Friday 15th September
All teams were advised to finalise their venues etc by the AGM. Anyone who knows of new teams wishing to join the league, should contact me prior to the AGM. A quick reminder that if there are to be any rule changes for the league/comps, these must be brought up and voted upon at the AGM.
I have attached a copy of the payout/accounts for the 22/23 season.
UPDATE
See attached the final league table for 22/23 season. A massive well done to the Travellers on winning all 22 league fixtures (ending on a rather apt number of 180 points!).
Final merit tables are also attached.
Friday 12th May saw the conclusion of the Singles competition. With 3 players unfortunately unable to make it, we went to post with the final 13 players. It was Andy Mansueto from the Thomas Wilson who would play Paul Yearnshire of the Travellers in the final. After winning both the 3-a-side and pairs competition, Paul was chasing a hat trick of competition wins.
Up until the final, Andy hadn't dropped a single leg in overcoming Bob Coulson (FCC), Pete Docherty (Greencroft) and Dwayne Murphy (Nags). With Paul having a bye in the opening round, his route to the final was also straight forward, dropping just the single leg in defeating Paul Davison (Mallard) 3-1 in the Quarter Final, and again dropping just the 1 leg in winning 4-1 against Mark Peters (Bay Horse) in the Semi Final.
The final was a close encounter throughout, with neither player able to put a big gap between their score and the opponents. With the score 3-3, the deciding leg inevitably had a few missed doubles but it was Andy who pinned D4 to take home the title of Singles Champion for 2023.
That wraps up all the competitions for 2023 - thanks to all who entered and well done to all those who were winners.
