👩⚕️ So the first thing I did post birth was to get myself down to .for.women for a mummy MOT. Which is amazing by the way. Every preggo person should have one.
🫡 Your womb & va-jay-jay have just competed in the growing & birthing Olympics - surely it makes sense to give them a little TLC and ask them ‘how you doin?’
🫶🏻My Mummy MOT highlighted… some internal tight spots that needed releasing, a pelvic floor in good nick but in need of some rehab, a rib cage that wasn’t moving as it should (because Jupiter had been hanging out up in my diaphragm) and also some separation of my ab muscles - which would take time to knit back together.
Eager to get back to fitness and back to my LOVE of running, I was referred to a core specialist - - who even knew these magical people existed?!) 🪄 and together we started the long road back to getting strong from the inside and out. Which is nothing to do with throwing big weights about and everything to do with breath work and many, many stretchy bands. 🧘♀️✌🏻
6 months post-party and I am nowhere near being fit. It’ll take a while still… mostly because I am juggling body repair alongside mum life. But it ain’t a competition. And there’s no rush. What I can tell you is that it feels SO GOOD to be doing STUFF again. To have achey muscles and flop into bed feeling tired from something other than sleep deprivation and chasing a toddler around. And the only way from here is… STRONG 💪🏼

Amongst myself and many of the Coaches, there has been a noticeable difference in the workings with our pelvic bowls as we've travelled through our lives....from POP to Hysterectomy....Faecal to Urinary incontinence plus the changes associated with Menopause, but we're all still here with our DIFFERENT WORKING bodies, living and enjoying our lives. I think what we need to do is normalise this change over time and make it THE NORM!! BECAUSE IT IS...And that with great education and a plan to move the needle in the direction of working with our 'new normal', a great future and transformed relationship with our bodies is truly possible! You're not DYSFUNCTIONAL, you're just DIFFERENT now, and we have programmes to help!

Here we take advantage of the stretch through the front of the hip and the position of the ankle to 'speak' to the pelvic floor + of course the movement is linked to the breath! Remember, if your Pelvic Floor programme doesn't involve your breath and moving you whole body....you should question that!!

FACT: The stats tell us that 50% of 'parous' women (women who have given birth) have some degree of Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP). So that's a LOT of women out there still living their lives and some of them actually, living their BEST LIVES whilst having a POP!!!! The thing is, we get to choose......we really do........we can let a POP rule our lives or we can get to know it, make peace with it, get to understand our 'new normal', create new 'thresholds' for what physical activity we do, search out new activities that feel more supportive! The list of ways to support ourselves living and actually still thriving with a POP are pretty huge and if you work with a HCR Coach, this is the drum we'll be beating.....we'll also be speaking to the POTENTIAL and not just the problem. I LOVE this move from our BRAND NEW Everywoman 2.0 programme. This is in the 'Attune' section where we take women on a journey to reconnect with their bodies through simple yet deeply connecting movement tied to their breathing. Ultimately, we can't 'strengthen' or release what we can't connect to and RECONNECTION is a priority. Secondly, Pelvic Floor exercise is a WHOLE BODY affair....what's going on here at the ankles and forearms is HUGELY valuable....do you need a programme refresh or looking for a PF and Core programme not obsessed with SQUEEZING.....get in touch!!
All too often, space for a woman to tell her STORY about her Pelvic Health journey is not created. Women are rushed, pathologized, over medicated and gas-lit at worst! Rule 101 of Healing = WOMEN NEED TO BE HEARD!! HCR Coaches WILL MAKE TIME FOR YOU to say as much or as little as you need to. We'll start where you are, be led by YOUR NEEDS and eventually, you'll get back to being you and doing the things that bring you joy WITH CONFIDENCE!
If you're working with HCR Coach and you have a HYPERTONIC/OVERACTIVE Pelvic Floor, this movement will most likely be in your programming and prioritised over 'strength' exercises like Kegels....why?? Because this little gem 💎 has the potential to lengthen and mobilize those deep pelvic muscles also that can increase in tension and also play havoc with your continence too!! Remember, not all leaky PF's are a result of a lack of strength!! Do you need more support to get back to doing what you love ❤️.....find a Coach near you or someone to work virtually wherever you are in the world 🌎
First things first! How you breathe matters to your Pelvic Health because.........your breathing muscle (Diaphragm) and your Pelvic Floor Muscles work as a team......and how you breathe impacts the level of tension/stress you experience in your body and that too impacts what's going on in your core and Pelvic Floor.......so again, if your Pelvic Health pro isn't mentioning your breathing, probably time for an upgrade :-) We're ready when you are!
