Concert destination Blandford Forum Saturday 24th February 7pm
a vibrant concert of song and spoken word entwined with solo cello
On Saturday February 24th at 7pm, Blandford Parish Church are hosting an exciting concert of new music. The evening commences with “Prayer for the Rivers”, my solo work originally created in Chartres Cathedral. Then as featured soloist in Karen Wimhurst’s new piece Freedoms, alongside soprano Abigail Fiddik and Palida Choir. Central to this work are lyrics by writer Robin Walter inspired by Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms.
In 2023, Palida, alongside other choirs across the UK, jointly commissioned eight black composers to create new songs for acappella choir as part of a Black Lives Matter initiative. In the second half of the programme, they will give a Dorset premiere of many of these uplifting new works.
Weaving the whole evening together will be poetry presented by members of the well loved Wimborne Community Theatre.

Really encouraging to receive 5🌟review for the recent private house concert 25/10/23
Paul G 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I haven't the words to express how utterly precious an experience it was that Emily gave us. A very very special surprise private concert for my wife's 70th birthday. Just wonderful!
I was playing my acoustic cello rather than the electric one, as the client aware of the environment I would be performing in was adamant in having just acoustic sound and no amplification.
It was a profound performance experience due to the phenomenal acoustics in the room, with the house designed by the famous architect Edwin Lutyens.

The doorway & the moon. Looking back at the venue after the performance of my production “Bach & At the turning of the World” . Thankfully a super turn out and the church was full .
The production has been whittled away at over the last three years with different global events and commissions .inspiring music compositions. Repeated performance of some of them in hospitals, concerts and festivals , and private functions to many different walks of life has helped them take shape. The concert last night though feels like it was the vehicle for this production to really take off and what a beautiful and humbling place to play. It wasn’t without its challenges in the tech department during the soundcheck but thankfully the tech all ran smoothly during the performance.
I don’t envisage it always being solo and it will be interesting to see how it unfurls. It’s a new one ready to tour though and that’s a good feeling.

Just a bit proud of the “bean tree” & I see a sprite in the shadow cast . Brought to mind a track called “Running Man” with its mix of ethnic instruments and string orchestration - interesting lyrics too with relation to the present time . Published 1995 with german label. with .linscott on percussion & the late Shozo on didgeridoo

This is an opportunity to hear the new solo performance production "Bach & At the Turning of the World" in a very special sacred environment.
Following on from the success of Emily's earlier production for solo cello performance "Bach & music from Out of the Blue" she has now created a new program;
"Bach & At the Turning of the World" features compositions produced during the last three years with a selection of compositions inspired by events in different parts of the world which have moved her to compose or arrange a piece for the cello.
Some are accompanied by an orchestrated backing track, and others feature her dynamic and adventurous approach to composing and performing with the solo cello utilising looping pedals operated with her feet, which enable her to record and multitrack the cello in a live setting.
The program will also include movements from the second suite for unaccompanied cello by JS Bach in D minor.
The concert commences at 7pm and has an interval where refreshments will be served . The evening will draw to a close at approximately 8.30pm.
Tickets are £12.00 and £10 concessions and children under fifteen are free.
They can be purchased in advance on Eventbrite :
