Lebanon Valley College Nafme Chapter 146

A few weeks ago we had a workshop with Dr. Heffner. He covered the initial thought process with music, how to use Pyware to write drill, and some miscellaneous topics regarding managing and leading a marching band program. We appreciate his time to educate us on this topic, we definitely learned a lot!

For National Association for Music Education Chapter Recruitment Friday, we want to highlight our recruitment events and socials we host. This year, our chapter completely revamped our recruitment process by assigning all freshmen a nafme mentor. Through this we have been able to introduce so many new people to nafme. Plus, we've been able to hold more fun events such as our scavenger hunt!

For National Association for Music Education Professional Development Thursday, we want to highlight our workshops we host for our chapter members. Even during Covid, we were able to find guest speakers who provided us with quality information that could assist us in our future careers. This particular workshop covered event and festival planning which is applicable to all of us as music teachers

For National Association for Music Education Advocacy Wednesday, we want to highlight how our chapter teaches our members many different ways to educate. Our meetings usual open with a musical activity of some kind and serve as an example of something any of us can use with our future students. Furthermore, we can use these as examples for our community to show how we can teach students musical concepts.

Today is National Association for Music Education Service Tuesday, and we wanted to share some of our activities we have that involve our community. Our chapter hosted a bucket drum lesson for children during LVC's homecoming. One of our main goals within our chapter is to serve our community through music, and teaching instruments to kids is such a great way to do this!

We had a great time at the Scavenger Hunt on Friday! We met plenty of new faces and had a blast finding all the important locations in Blair. Congrats to Alydia, Emily and Maddy for winning!

Our first meeting will take place tomorrow (Monday) at 8:30 pm outside on the Blair steps! We'll introduce NAfME and our E-Board as well as hang out and eat pizza. We hope to see you all there!

NAfME at LVC is back in action for the 2021-2022 academic year! We're kicking things off with a scavenger hunt around Blair Music Center on Friday at 7 pm! Freshmen music education majors will get the chance to meet their mentors and find all the important places in Blair. There may even be a prize for the winners... 👀 We hope to see many of you there!
