The time will come when we will recall good old days when the very first LLMs like ChatGPT were available. Their value consist in the fact that they were trained on real human generated data. As human generated data becomes more and more scarce and expensive, researchers and companies start to use synthetic texts generated by bots to train new mnodels. This trend will take them even far from the real world reducing variance in data, replicating errors, posing to hallucination even more.
Tech community has to find new, more robust and beneficial applications for AI, as LLM that is widely accepted AI application starting to exhaust itself.

Are rainy days ahead for cloud computing? 29/06/2024

There is no technology or concept that is panacea for everyone. Trends are good to know them, but reality sometime is different. Every large and medium business or organization should have the team of technical people with deep understanding of technological landscape and ability to map individual needs to the seemingly broad arsenal of technical/engineering solutions. Cloud services like IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, etc. are great concepts those drive innovation and help thousands of businesses of different sizes and industries, but they are not silver bullet. The choice to go with cloud or in-premise platforms depend on many aspects including availability of in-house expertise to build and maintain platforms, timeline of expected ROI, overall business model, type of computation involved to maintain the business (data-intensive, compute-intensive, OLAP, OLTP, etc.), sensitivity of the data, scale of the system, way of service delivery, self-sufficiency of the system (dependence on integration with legacy or other systems) and others.
Anyway, there is a way of repatriation back to in-premise, but it may include additional cost and other risks. Surely, Cloud will exist and thrive, but businesses are now more and more cautious about related implications and understand that "Cloud First" is not a panacea.

Are rainy days ahead for cloud computing? Outsourcing computing to the cloud is a huge business, but some firms have said it's not for them.

Neuralink looks to the public to solve a seemingly impossible problem | CBC News 30/05/2024

Elon Musk's Neuralink announce Data Compression Challenge open to public.
The main idea of the invention is to provide efficient interface between brain and machine/computer. Implant in the brain is expected to transfer wirelessly huge amounts of data to computer and, possibly, back. It's clear that the system has many restrictions like: limited energy reserve and limited computational power. Even if theoretically compression at the 200/1 rate would be feasible (what is not), the limitations of energy resources and computation would not allow to implement that sophisticated and computationally intensive transformation in acceptable cost.

Neuralink looks to the public to solve a seemingly impossible problem | CBC News Elon Musk’s startup Neuralink is pitched as a brain implant that will let people control computers and other devices using their thoughts. Turning brain signals into computer inputs means transmitting a lot of data very quickly. Now, the company is seeking a new algorithm that can transmit that da...

Leaving campus at late night, I noticed some lively activities at the park. I was thinking there are should be a group of crazy :) people doing some staff at night. I was right. They were Engineers :) - students of SITE who were testing their satellite-prototype, collecting telemetry data from the prototype while it falls down from the top of tree. They were so generous that entrusted me to hold that precious device )). You should be crazy about what you do to spend all your night at the campus, while you could have delicious dinner with family members and friends. But we know "Hard work pays off".
After winning local CanSat Competition organized by Azercosmos, these dedicated young people from ADA University School of IT and Engineering in coming days will be presenting the country at the International CanSat 2024 Competition supported by NASA and American Astronautical Society to be held in Monterey, Virginia. Let's wish them a great success - they truly deserve it!!!

Being able to focus on what you do best is very important for success. Business models of Uber, AirBnB, Netflix, and others, is based on providing the unified virtual platforms, but not going into dealing with physical objects and physical interaction.
NVIDIA is World's leader in chip market without producing a single chip. While NVIDIA is 3rd among World's companies by market value, the TSMC (World's largest chip producer) which produce its chips is just 10th.
NVIDIA is 3rd valuable company in the World after Microsoft and Apple. It's only company in the history which managed to grow from $1 trillion to $2 trillion in less than nine months. For sure, this will not continue long. There are many rivals who want to get own piece of the pie. Also, current customers who compete for buying more NVIDIA's chips like Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon and OpenAI are not happy with the extremely high price that they pay for GPUs, considering to design and produce own chips.

How to Put a Data Center in a Shoebox 20/05/2024

UNBELIEVABLE - By 2040 50% of World's total electric power will be utilized for computing.
The only way to deal with the issue is to develop technology/approach of tremendously increasing computation power and reducing power consumption by chips. Superconductivity looks like a solution. According to research results, the computing system based on 3D superconducting chips of size 10K times smaller than most powerful supercomputer today (in Top500) can produce 20 times more computing power at the same time consuming 100 times less energy. It could almost fit into shoebox.

At the Huawei Networking Summit we tried to find answer to the question: "How Technology Impacts and Transforms Education?"
While we all agree that Education, especially High Education can can't stay aside of tech advancements, but it can't be just reactive passively responding to changes. Instead, HEIs must be proactive leading transformation through growing capable minds, fostering Digital Culture, nurturing Science and Research-centric Innovation, consulting Governments in policy making and transferring Technology to Industries.

Top500: China Opts Out of Global Supercomputer Race 14/05/2024

The technological and scientific advancements are happening when the competition platform is equally available for all contestants. When one of largest contributors opt out, it's not fair competition anymore. This is not good for the Global Science/Research and for Computing/Supercomputing advancements particularly. What numbers say: as a result, the average age of the systems in TOP500 doubled in past 6 years from 15 months to 30.
