When was the last time you had a whole week away to yourself? ๐ค
I honestly couldnโt tell you when I last did that either โ in fact I donโt think I ever have! But I have been listening to my body and my needs and am honouring myself, I am incredibly grateful to have taken time out recently to do just that!
Just me, our motorhome, my own space and thoughts, and the beauty of nature.
Time for me to get in the zone and create โ and work on how I can best serve you โ my community ๐
I craved this time, and I truly needed it. Because it is so important to take time out to rejuvenate ourselves without the demands of others around you. I realise this is a hard thing for many of us to do sometimes or even just commit to! But I decided I really needed this time out just in my own company so that I could recharge my energy stores in order to continue to do what I do and serve others.
So here I amโฆ in my Happy Place! It was a truly relaxing and blissful week.

Getting our fill of sun has such a positive effect on our mood and overall wellbeing, so I am always trying to grab that last bit of sunshine before the colder months!
Whoโs feeling a bit ripped off that we havenโt had as much sunshine as normal this summer? And what are you doing to actively chase down the rays at the moment? ๐
To help describe the way that our Detoxification Organs operate, let me run you a bath and explainโฆ ๐
Think of your body like a bathtubโฆ The clean water coming in is compared to the good stuff like filtered water, healthy foods, supplements, exercise, and detox tools such as saunas, coffee enemas and epsom salt baths.
But there is also dirty water coming into the bath which are things like poor diet, food intolerances and allergies, chemicals from skincare and make-up products, cleaning products and pesticides and heavy metals from our drinking water, plastics, and other chemicals.
And then we compare the bath drain to our detox organs (Liver, Bowels, Kidneys & Skin) โ these detox organs support the dirty water clearing out! BUT if we have any blockages in the drain then this can lead to symptoms such as headaches, muscle aches, pain, fatigue, poor sleep, mood issues, increased weight, hormone imbalances and allergiesโฆ. To name a few!
It is SO important to be continually looking at how we are supporting our detox organs by detoxing our system on a regular basis! Itโs not just a once-a-year job! ๐ซ

Our gut is the critical part of us that is responsible for much of our immune system function because of its unique anatomy and microbiology ๐งฌIn our gut we have hundreds of species of bacteria, fungi and viruses and having the right types and number of these microbes has a big influence on how strong our immune system will be.
The gut plays a critical role in maintaining a physical barrier between the inside of the body and the outside world. The gut lining is made up of specialised cells that help to absorb nutrients and keep harmful microorganisms and toxins out. What many of us donโt realise, is that what we are eating, how we are eating and what medications we take for example can negatively impact our gut health, leaving our gut in a poor state and not able to provide us with good immunity when the bugs invade.
I speak to so many of my clients about giving their immune system a boost by supplementing with Vitamin D, C and Zinc especially heading into the colder months as it can be hard to get enough of these from even a healthy diet.

Have you ever noticed how much calmer you feel by simply stopping and taking a breath? ๐ฌ
Itโs very easy when we are busy or stressed to get into a state of over-breathing which can make us feel anxious and stressed. Itโs so important to checkin regularly throughout your day and notice if this is happening, if it is then take a moment to reset your breathing which supports resetting your nervous system into a calmer state. Stop with me now and take three, slow, deep breaths โ in and out - ๐ฎโ๐จ
Want to take it a step further? Close your eyes while doing this and visualise settling into your happy place for a moment to help quieten your mind. I for example visualise myself lying in the sea. Itโs so calming and I can feel my energy shift to feeling much calmer and my breathing slows down. When your breathing slows down your nervous system can reset now it knows you are safe.
Are you anything like me, and you find it easy to get stuck in the โto do listโ mindset where you feel tension and stress that you need to get things done rather than just allowing your day to flow?๐ซ
Sometimes when life is busy we are all a bit guilty of trying to control everything, making massive (and sometimes unreasonable) to do lists and putting hard pressures on ourselves to do all the things, and all at once. To me the doing means I am productive but then I lack time and energy to just be and enjoy the moment.
When I feel myself getting overwhelmed and stressed, I know that I am actually losing energy staying in that constant state of stress, thinking โI need to do thisโ all day long. I like to consciously check in and let go and trust that there will be enough time in my day to get the important things done. By making this mind shift I can cruise through my day in a much more pleasant and calm way.
If I ever need an extra example of how to shift into a calmer headspace, I know I just need to observe how my husband approaches things โ he seems to have a very relaxed approach to life (although I couldnโt cope with the mess and lack of planning that comes with this approach)! I definitely need to take a leaf out of his book more often! ๐

Some of us are completely unaware of some of the toxins that we can bring into our home ourselves, that can actually make us feel unwell.
If you have freshly painted your house, laid new carpet, brought a new mattress, or even purchased new furniture that is made of MDF timber for example, these are all things that contain chemicals that can off gas and add toxins to the air that you breathe in and in turn affect your health๐ฅ
๐๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฅ! - To reduce exposure to these toxins, you can take steps such as choosing furniture and homeware that are made with natural and non-toxic materials. If possible, allow new furniture to off-gas in a well-ventilated area before bringing it into your home, and use air purifiers to remove toxins from the air. Additionally, you can choose household cleaning products that are free from harmful chemicals and toxins, and a big one to remember is to regularly ventilate your home by opening windows and doors to help release the toxins from your living spaces and to allow the fresh air in.

Depression can be a very complex condition to treat or sometimes itโs easy. One of the things that I have made a link with is how eating the wrong foods can cause or contribute to depression. This happens as the body becomes inflamed from the reaction to the food ๐ฐ
From my experience, I have seen how the effects of stress and inflammation can contribute to something called the โTryptophan Stealโ. Tryptophan is an amino acid we get from the protein we eat. We need tryptophan to make our serotonin which is the neurotransmitter that makes us happy. When we are stressed or inflamed, our tryptophan can be โstolenโ and sent down another pathway. We then donโt have enough to produce adequate serotonin leaving us feeling depressed, anxious and having trouble sleeping.

I simply love getting away into nature with friends! ๐ ๐ฃ
Me and my husband had a fabulous weekend away kayaking in Raglan with friends last month and we were pretty lucky with the weather
We signed up for a guided group kayaking tour, and it really was an incredible experience. Itโs as if the weather held out just for us! Where the best part was making our way into a sheltered cave just before a heavy rain shower. It was kind of beautiful and relaxing watching the rain fall from the shelter of the cave.
I have to admit though, sharing a kayak with my husband sure was a relationship-testing exercise!
But all in all, a thoroughly awesome experience that filled my cup right on up!
