It's been a long first week back to school (and I'm only a part-time assistant). That made it SUPER hard to get out of bed this morning. I hit my alarm 3 times, but finally pushed myself to get up. Now this run is behind me and I'll do a quick 10 minute workout video and I'll be good to start my day. Happy Friday, everyone!

It's the last day of summer break. ☀️ To be honest I wanted to use that excuse to skip my workout today. I woke up wide awake at 5:30am and knew I should just get up and get it done. But I didn't. I laid in bed and fell back to sleep. Got up about 8:30am and it still took me until 10am to get going. I did a mini workout and then hopped on my trusty treadmill. I feel so good now. It just takes some motivation to get started (even when you love exercise).

You may ask why I'm posting this because about 5 weeks ago I said it was time to finish out the summer strong and drop a couple more pounds. Instead of following my own advice, I slipped and only got in a couple of workouts and have eaten the worst foods. 🌭🍕🍟🍔🌯🍩 I've gained back about 2 pounds from the 13 I've lost this year and my measurements are up an inch or two. 👎🏻 That's what happens when you don't keep yourself in check. It happens to all of us. BUT it's never too late to jump back on the bandwagon. I am using the start of school as a good time to get back to good habits and follow a routine. Who else is ready to take on the new school year with a new healthier you?

A healthy alternative to pizza. Used Flatout Whole Grain Light for the crust (90 calories, 9g protein), pizza sauce, black olives, sautéed onions, green peppers and mushrooms, 5 pepperonis (could have left them off but I gave 3 of them to my dog anyway) and mozzarella (with a sprinkle of cheddar) cheese. It was filling and satisfying and without the guilt or bloated feeling of having regular pizza.

NEVER MISS A MONDAY‼️ I almost did! Today is the first [real] day of summer ☀️ break for us. My girls finished off their summer swim season 🏊🏻 on Saturday. Until now we had a 9:30am practice to be at every morning 🌄 which kept me on task. It would have been easy to talk myself out of getting up and getting moving 🏃🏼 since I have a wide open day, but I knew if I didn't stick to my workout first thing in the morning it would not happen🚫. So I hopped out of my comfy bed 🛌 and got to it. And now it's done and I feel great 💪🏻 and am ready to take on the week❗️Who else is up and moving this morning or has already smashed their workout for the day?

I was tempted to stay in bed a little longer today. I mean, it's Friday and all. Don't I deserve a break? I was laying in bed scrolling Facebook and came across a friend's post that motivated me to get up and get moving. So I did. And this is the sweaty aftermath. 😂 I feel so much better and am ready to tackle this day. Friday workouts are as important as Monday workouts because it sets you up to stay strong and on task through the weekend. Happy Friday! Make it a good one!

Summer! ☀️ It can make the most dedicated person LAZY. I've got to be honest here. I thought I was gonna drop another 10 pounds over the summer. I thought I would have MORE time to workout 🏃🏼, MORE time to prepare good foods 🍐🍇🍎🌽🍅 Well I was wrong. There is always something going on. I'm more busy than I am during the school year between swim practices, swim meets 🏊🏻, fun pool days, time with family, time with friends...the list goes on and on. I've managed to keep off the weight ⚖ I lost in the spring, but I've not been consistent with my exercise 💪🏻 or eaten the best. I'll have a good couple of days, then I eat horribly (like donuts 🍩 yesterday) or I'll workout out 5 days one week and only once the next. TODAY is 5️⃣ weeks 🗓 before we go back to school. I decided I CAN do something in those 5 weeks so today I am back at it full force. Join me!

Excuses! We can let excuses rule so many areas of our lives. I fell victim to it this week in exercise. I used every excuse in the book to not work out.

"I worked out 5 days last week"
"I deserve a break"
"Got up too late"
"It's too hot"
"I'm keeping my weight off so I don't need to"

You get my point. Those excuses cost me a WHOLE week of not working out. Today I decided I would rise above that and get a run in. To be honest, it was the last thing I wanted to do. I waited until the last possible second I had to get it in before I had to get ready to take my girls to swim practice. But the good news is I finally laced up my shoes and jumped on the treadmill. And guess what?! I felt so much better after I did it. We all fall off the bandwagon from time to time, but don't let that get you in a rut and ruin what you've worked so hard for! Get back at it. Your body (and mind) will thank you!

Got my Friday morning run in while the girls had swim practice. I ran out of time to get it done before we left the house so I ran the pool's driveway loop. Took me 5 1/2 loops to get 2 miles in. It was the first run outside in a LONG time and what a difference from a treadmill. It was hot and half of the run was hilly, but it felt good to do something different. My and helped give me the energy to get it done. Happy Friday, everyone!

I started off last Monday with a great workout, but didn't do another one ALL week. I found myself also eating the wrong foods and eating way more than I should have. It happens! The hardest part is realizing that and reeling it back in. So today's a new week and I am back on this. The shirt I'm wearing reminds me to Believe in Myself. So I hopped on the treadmill with a goal to run a mile in less than 8 minutes. With one second to spare, I DID IT! And then I ran another mile at a 10 minute pace. Now I feel ready to conquer this day and this week! Workouts help keep me in check.

It's always good to track your progress. I'm a big competitor with myself. I like to shave off a second here, a minute there. It's what keeps me motivated. One way I've found to track my progress is snapping a pic of the treadmill after a run that I've worked hard for. It was a big deal for me when I ran 1.5 miles in 23:42 back in January. I felt like I had conquered the world. Now I can do a 1/2 mile longer in 7️⃣ minutes LESS. I couldn't believe the difference 5 months makes when I put these side by side. I would have never remembered what my time was had I not snapped this pic. It didn't happen over night, but consistency DOES pays off. Find out what motivates you and go with it.

I'm feeling good, I have more energy, the clothes that were tight aren't tight anymore and I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in a long time. It hasn't all been easy, but it's been worth it. Here's to Month 4!

Someone got a little too much sun yesterday (even after multiple reapplications of sunscreen). We went to my parents before I realized she was so burnt. Mom has an aloe plant so she put some on her. It was still super red and burning when we got home (pic to the left) so I pulled out the Defining Gel! Look at the difference overnight (pic on right). I love this stuff. It never lets me down. From sunburns to bug bites to toning skin this stuff does it all! A must have for any household!
