It is time to announce the winners of our annual Youth Leadership contest! A big thank you goes out to our judges, Adina (last year's winner!) and to Reesa Shinder, the director of Ganon Preschool. Also thank you to Sashalee from A Dashing Pinch and to JFO's Rena Garshowitz for stepping in at the last minute to help handle some tie-breakers!
This year's question was: What do you wish adults better understood about inclusion?
FIRST PLACE: This goes to Na'ama for her phenomenal essay on ableism!
SECOND PLACE: Despite adding more judges, this remained a perfect tie. We have two second place winners!
Second place goes to Raisa for the simple and sincere video message about how adults should approach inclusion.
Second place also goes to Bayla and Freya for their animated video showing how adults can be more inclusive in the things they do.
THIRD PLACE: This goes to Evan for their entry about the challenges of gender barriers and how it unnecessarily limits people.
SPIRIT OF INCLUSION AWARDS:
Coby: for the amazing party planning checklist
Group Entry: Livia, Nikki, Shayna, Gila, and Noa for their epic video featuring many languages, diverse voices, and important messages from kids in their school.
Rachel: for the story book about a mouse.
Congratulations to all of the 50 youth who participated in our contest this year! Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some highlights from the entries. The messages from kids about what adults need to better understand about inclusion are important to share. Way to go everyone!
Reminder that the deadline for our Youth Leadership Contest is Tuesday February 28 at 6:00 p.m.
