Hello guys, In this post i will talk about Dermatome and Myotome,
Clinicaly, a dermatome is that area of 'skin' supplied by a single nerve or spinal cord level, while myotome is that region of 'skeletal muscle' innervated by a single nerve or spinal cord level and most individual muscles of the body are innervated by more than one spinal cord level so the evaluation of myotome is usually accomplished by testing movements of joints or muscle groups,
A knowledge of dermatome and myotome is absolutely fundamental to carrying out a neurological examination.
>>>What all these scientific terms are saying is that specific parts of the body are innervated(supplied) by different and specific nerves and spinal cord levels meaning that if you have pain, discomfort or tingling in certain place it will indicate what nerve is affected and where the problem comes from and so to address the problem specifically for maximum healing ๐Ÿ‘an example of this is if you have a tingling and burning sensation in your heels and small toe specifically this indicates a damage of the S1 nerve of the spine
