⭐️ Sunday Spotlight: On Spots ⭐️

Did you know that 90% of the world's population will be affected by acne at some point in their
life which makes it the most common skin disorder.

While there are different types when people talk about acne they usually mean a form called ‘acne vulgaris’ or ‘common acne’. This is characterised by multiple lesions on the face.

So how is acne caused?

💥Regardless of the type ALL forms are caused by a blockage of a hair follicle.
💥 An overproduction and build up of sebum combined with dead skin cells block the follicle from the inside.
💥Substances such as sweat, makeup and excess sebum enter the follicle opening from the outside.

These blockages can attract bacteria which leads to the inflammation and redness associated with acne. However, it’s worth noting that there are many degrees of severity from the occasional monthly blemish to more severe cases. These latter cases may need specialist attention from a dermatologist.

Steps to take:
⭐️ Proper Cleansing - Double cleanse with Smoothing Cleanser (I’d recommend the unscented version) and then the Clear Skies Cleansing Powder.
⭐️ Exfoliate - This helps to unblock the hair follicle so I’d use Juicy Greens toning essence due to it having a mild exfoliating action. Also, Ocean Dive which can be used on specific areas to promote further exfoliation. Face Smooth is also an option providing your skin isn’t sensitive.
⭐️ Hydrate - Believe it or not blemish prone skin can be oily yet dehydrated. This is because it feels natural to want to ‘dry’ out oily skin. The problem is your skin then produces more sebum which can lead to more breakouts. Hydrating your skin will help prevent this as it won’t need to produce as much sebum. Use Pure Lagoon to target areas needing hydration, reduce sebum production and optimise the skins microbiology.
⭐️ Nourish - Fresh Waves is ideal for this as its lightweight formula sinks effortlessly into your skin and is easily absorbed.
⭐️Protect - Don’t forget to protect from harmful sun rays with SunDay sunscreen 😉

Yesterday I attended the monthly Top Tropic team meeting. Now, I don’t mean to brag, I don’t mean to boast and while I do like hot butter on my breakfast toast….I also like receiving flowers!

This wonderful lady may be gone but she most definitely will NOT be forgotten!

As you all know Gill Eagle was the very first Ambassador in Tropic waaaayy back in 2013. She worked her socks off in those early days and pretty quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with. 💥

Yesterday was World Ocean Day 🌎🌊

Did you know today is World Sleep Day and here are some top tips for ensuring a good nights 💤

But I have a few of my own…..my grandma used to say an hour before midnight is worth two afterwards. By that she meant if you get sleep at least an hour before midnight it’s better than having two hours of the same sleep after midnight. ⏰🛌

I used to think this was an ‘old wives tale’ but knowing what I know now about skin cell regeneration it actually makes sense. Midnight is apparently the optimum time for skin cell renewal, vital for healthy skin.

So it really was about getting your ‘beauty sleep’!!

Another favourite of mine is to take a short walk about an hour before bed, I find this quite relaxing.

I like to read too and I find being in bed resting is a good time to do this. It’s also good do a spot of
‘Journaling’ and get rid of any potentially intrusive thoughts that could impact on your sleep. 📕🖊️

Oh and before I forget….take the TV out of your bedroom!!! Way too tempting to watch late night 📺 😀
