As part of this team, you will be working alongside like-minded individuals in organizing hackathons (coding competitions) exclusively for Bronx Science students. We are currently looking for enthusiastic students who are passionate about outreach, computer science, design, or just hackathons in general! You are not required to have any computer science background or even have gone to a hackathon before but it is preferred. It is a great way to gain some leadership skills and make new friends.
_______
FAQ:
What is a hackathon and what does the AtomHacks Committee do?
A hackathon is a 12-hr coding competition where participants code a project from scratch to win prizes. Aside from the competition, participants can attend interesting workshops, get help from experienced mentors and meet new friends. Overall, it is a great learning experience and the competition is completely optional! The AtomHacks Committee works to organize this event from Bronx Science students to expose more peers to computer science.
When does the hackathon committee meet?
We meet on Thursdays during SGI so that it will not conflict with any clubs. Most of the work will be done remotely.
Should I fill out this form if I want to attend the hackathon?
No! This form is only for those who would like to be a part of the hackathon committee. This committee organizes the hackathon that we will host in the spring. If you would like to attend the hackathon, we will open registration in the spring where you can sign up.
How do I join and what are the departments?
Apply to be a part of the organizing committee by filling out the application above! There are 3 departments: Programming, Design and Outreach. The descriptions are in the application. No programming experience is required for any position but passion and dedication is! Make sure to sign-up!
