What a great turnout at last night's Maryland TESOL Spring Dinner!
Our Spring Dinner marks the changing of the guard and the beginning of new board terms, as well as the award ceremony for our outstanding scholars, teachers, and advocates across the states.

The outgoing President, TESOL International Teacher of the Year Dr. Drew Fagan, addressed those gathered in person and via zoom to recap this year's accomplishments. Maryland TESOL has become a national - and even international - name in TESOL and has been invited to lead talks and workshops because of the great work we continue to do. Of course, we couldn't do this work without your continued support and advocacy!
The incoming President, Derya Kulauz-Onal, has now taken the reins and will lead us into the bright future ahead.

The 2023 award honorees of the night give us hope that things can only get better with their determination, work ethic, and commitment. It was an incredibly competitive field, and we'd like to again offer our congratulations to:
LouseDaina Nissage - winner of our K-12 Scholarship!
Xenia Diaz - winner of our Adult/Higher Education Scholarship!
Delegate Lorig Charkoudian, winner of our Ann Beusch Distinguished Service Award!
Ms. Linda Evans, our ESOL Adult/Higher Education Teacher of the Year!
Elainy Sanchez Rivera, our ESOL Student Success Story Award Winner!

And finally, we'd like to celebrate our inaugural mentor cohort. Our mentors went through an intensive training program under the tutelage of Doaa Rashed and Debra Suarez to learn how to support the mentees in a mentee-needs focused program to enhance professional development and encourage networking opportunities. Next year's cohort applications will be opening in mid-June!

We'd like to thank everyone for their support that allowed us to have such an exemplary year, and would love to see you all at our Fully Virtual 2023 Fall Conference on November 11th, 2023! The call for proposals will open June 1st!
