Nebo School District is considering boundary realignments of certain elementary schools located in the Spanish Fork, Mapleton, and Santaquin areas. The specific school boundaries under review are contained within the Maple Ridge, Rees, and Santaquin Elementary School catchment areas, however, changes in this catchment area may affect the boundaries of Sierra Bonita, Spanish Oaks, Larsen, Park, and Orchard Hills Elementary Schools.
Here's a Deseret News article from 1990. It is a letter to the editor from the Nebo Education Association.
This shows how the Association has been working for decades to improve conditions for all Nebo students and educators.
It was signed by two of my favorite and most influential people in my life: David Dahlquist and Jim Griffin.

Letter to the Editor: The paradoxes of school choice OPINION — The Utah State Legislature began the 2023 legislative session on Jan. 17 and, in under a week, is poised to pass legislation that will cause considerable damage to public education. HB 215 passed the House by a vote of 54-20 on Jan. 20 and now moves to the Senate. HB 215 is a […]

David R. Irvine: My 24-hour school voucher diary David R. Irvine outlines his 24-hour school voucher diary
This is one of the many reasons that I am a member of the UEA. I shutter to think where the state of public education in Utah would be, if it wasn't for the constant efforts of the UEA over the years to work with the Utah legislature to support and pass public education-friendly bills. And, even more, their efforts to fight against and block the anti-public education bills has greatly impacted for the good every public school employee in the state.
A principal here in Nebo once told me that she maintains her Association membership because she knows that the UEA is the only group that truly "has our back" when it comes to lobbying the Utah legislature.
As 2023 Utah Legislative Session begins today, we urge lawmakers to recognize educators as experts on public education issues and to work collaboratively. Our education funding priorities include:
• Provide at least a 6.5% increase on the WPU (est. $292 million), for a total WPU increase of at least 10% including inflation and student enrollment growth.
• Increase Paid Professional Hours for all licensed educators (est. $80 million one-time).
• Enhance funding for students at-risk of academic failure by increasing weights on the At-Risk Student line item (est. $25 million).
• Expand optional full-day kindergarten.
• Oppose schemes that funnel funds intended for public education to personal student accounts or privately-run entities where taxpayer accountability is lost.
The 2022-2023 Crystal Apple Award was presented to a well deserving educator of Nebo School District , MS. Mariah Haws. The award is in recognition of a continued dedication to the 5th grade students of Apple Valley Elementary. Congratulations Mariah and thank you for your commitment!

RECRUIT TODAY!
Spring Membership Campaign:
We need more members to retain the rights of the Association to negotiate our salaries, benefits, and policies.
Our goal for the Spring Membership Campaign is to get atleast 60 new members. That's less than two per school. We can totally do this if everyone pitches in.
To "sweeten the pot", an NEA grant obtained by the UEA Recruiter Incentive of $50 per new member. We are doubling that to give $100 that with membershipping money from our budget including a grant from Woodland Peaks Uniserv.
THAT'S RIGHT $100 DOLLARS PER NEW MEMBER!!!
Talk to your building reps for more info.
Potential members and student teachers who are being hired in Nebo can sign up on the Early Enrollment Program which allows them to try out the many benefits and learn about the Association for free. They don't pay anything until the end of September and you as the recruiter will get $50 in August or September from UEA and another $50 from our local Association in December.
Forms are available from your building rep or by emailing Brad Shuler at [email protected].
Congratulations to Tracy Warenski!!!
