Art and Barb's Umbria Videos

Videos by Art and Barb's Umbria. We lived in Umbria for 7 years and love sharing the food, wine, crafts and people we discovered there with friends.

Corinto, Nicaragua

On Feb 15th I posted pictures of the beautiful dancers who greeted our ship as we arrived in Corinto. There were musicians and much celebration. Once we walked into the small town of Corinto we saw how very poor the people are. Having a passenger ship is port is an incredible opportunity to make a few bucks. Children as well as adults approach to ask if you'd like to take a tour or buy a local souvenir. For US$10 we took a one hour ride on a bicycle-powered carriage. It was all rathr bleak so I didn't take any pictures, and only 2 short videos.

Going through one set of locks on the Panama Canal. On the left you can see one of the mules that helps keep the ship centered. There are 3 mules on each side of the ship. The canal is 110 feet wide, and our ship is 106 feet wide. On the right side you can see the visitor's center, and all the people who are watching the ships go through.

This was our entertainment at lunch today in Norcia.

It's raining!

Another successful festa! Although a sudden downpour began as we were waiting for the cashier to open, by the time we ordered the rain had stopped and the air had cooled considerably. As usual the porchetta was roasted to perfection, full of flavor, moist and tender. I couldn't resist the stinco, and Art had the traditional porchetta on torta al testo. Dinner for 3 was €32, plus another €8 for a bottle of red wine and a bottle of water. Well done Sagra Della Porchetta di Costano!
