UKJJF – DEFINITION OF PURPOSE

The United Kingdom Jiu Jitsu Federation is the UK member of the Jiu Jitsu International Federation. It is a not-for-profit organisation. The UKJJF was founded in 2016 in order to establish and develop a national team that will compete and represent its nation at major national and international games.

The UKJJF believes in the potential of Jiu Jitsu to be a positive force in UK society and will seek to illustrate this through its interaction with community leaders, political parties and businesses. It will strive to demonstrate the many virtues of Jiu Jitsu and the positive impact it can have on society at large.

Jiu Jitsu already has a passionate and committed following in the UK, the number of academies, teams, businesses and associated brands has grown exponentially since the inception of Jiu Jitsu in the UK. The UKJJF believes in supporting these preexisting businesses and brands and will look to do this by creating a professional standardization of events, regulations and qualifications. Further allowing UKJJF supported events be they amateur or grass roots competitions such as with the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation, professional competitions such as with the UAE Jiujitsu Federation or IOC sanctioned games and events which fall under the Jiujitsu International Federations domain, to contribute to a national points system in order to create a clear, concise and definitive ranking of each individual athlete.

Furthermore, the UKJJF will establish and support an infrastructure for the development of individuals within the sport in areas of their life beyond the academy. Providing training and education for Jiu Jitsu practitioners to pursue their chosen career from within the industry surrounding the sport, ultimately creating dedicted educational centres across the United Kingdom.

To create a professional, standardized regulatory body, a single governing entity that works in partnership with and unifies all other Federations in the UK. To maintain a universal ranking system for the purpose of developing a team to represent the UK nationally and internationally. To provide access to the highest levels of Jiu Jitsu for all communities in the UK, in order to bring the positive effects of Jiu Jitsu to society at large.

The United Kingdom Jiu Jitsu Federation for the first time unites under one banner, the two largest and most influential International Federations governing the sport of Jiu Jitsu in the world, namely the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) and the United Arab Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF). These two eminent organisations have recognised the UKJJF as the body responsible for governing the sport of Jiu Jitsu within the United kingdom; capable of administering the sport on a national basis, generations to come.

The Federation is formed of a dedicated team of highly skilled and experienced individuals who have united with a single passion and purpose, to develop the sport of Jiu Jitsu in the United Kingdom. The UKJJF is a non-profit organisation that relies on unpaid senior management members and staff; all working towards one goal, the same goal. To assist, support and promote a high level of Jiu Jitsu providing guidelines and standards for the development of the sport in the UK. Our objectives:

To unify Jiu Jitsu under one set of regulations

To standardise teaching, grading, discipline

To work with Sport UK, to build and train a team of athletes to represent the UK at National and International events

To develop and administer standardized teaching of Jiu Jitsu in educational institutions across the country

To develop a charitable foundation for children from less advantaged backgrounds and people with disabilities in order to give them access to consistently high quality Jiu Jitsu teaching, in order to improve their lives.
