For those of you singing with the Paducah Symphony this weekend:

Friday, April 12 6:30 – 8:30 Rehearsal at the Carson Center for the Performing Arts
(arrive by 6:00 for seating)

Saturday, April 13 2:00 – 4:00 Rehearsal at the Carson Center
(arrive by 1:45 for seating)

Concert

Saturday, April 13 – 7:30 p.m. The Requiem takes place in the second half of the concert. Tickets for balcony seating will be provided to you so you can enjoy the first half orchestra concert. They will be passed out at the Saturday afternoon rehearsal.

Dress – Concert Black just like you’d wear for a concert in Carbondale.

Men – if you have a tux, some men will be wearing tuxes so that will be fine. Otherwise, I told them that SIU folks will be in all black and they said that is fine.

It’s concert week! Join Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble this Saturday, March 23rd, at 7pm in Shryock Auditorium for a concert entitled War and Peace. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on!

Choral Union starts tonight!! Registration begins at 6:30PM, rehearsal starts at 7PM. We'll be meeting in Altgeld 110, and you can register right outside the door. Fees total $50.($30 registration + $20 music) We are so excited to see returning faces, and to welcome new ones!

Calling all lovers of music, community, and fun: Choral Union will be starting up Monday, August 28th! You won't want to miss this season, as we'll be singing choruses from Amahl and the Night Visitors and other works bound to bring you some Christmas cheer! Here's what you need to know:

Where: Altgeld Hall, Room 110
When: Registration begins at 6:15PM, Rehearsal from 7-9:15PM
Cost: $30 dues + $20 music = $50 total

It's that time of year again! SIU Choir auditions are happening next Monday and Tuesday! These are for any SIU student interested in singing in Concert Choir or Choral Union. SIU students (music majors, music minors, and non-music majors) and community members that have an interest in singing are welcome to audition, no experience necessary! Auditions will be held on:

Monday, August 21st from 10:00-12:00PM and 2:00-4:30PM.

Tuesday, August 22nd from 11-12PM and 2:00-4:30PM.

Audition requirements:
- Vocalize from lowest to highest note
- Sing one verse of “My Country Tis of Thee”
- Sight read a short melody (provided)
Class lists will be posted after all auditions are completed. Rehearsals will begin on Friday,
August 25, 2023.

The ensembles and their meeting times are:

Concert Choir Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2:00 -3:30 p.m.

Choral Union Monday 7:00 – 9:15 p.m., Friday 1:00 -1:50 p.m.

On February 18th and 19th, the SIU Choral Union, Concert Choir, and Symphony Orchestra team up with musicians from across southern Illinois to present this master work, set to a new English translation by Carl Lutes. There will be well over 100 musicians on stage! You don't want to miss this spectacular event, as it's sure to be memorable. Ticket information is on the image; get your tickets fast because we expect a huge turnout!

CHORAL UNION REHEARSAL IS CANCELLED for tonight, due to weather. We will resume next Monday, February 6th at 7PM. Be safe!
