Video of the local surroundings in old town Mountain Home Arkansas just a few hours ago during the total eclipse - unbelievable, 4 minutes long, no words can explain it, I suppose I’ll have to write a piece of music. The photo attempts to show the gradient from dark to light, I didn’t capture the blackout but there were stars and Venus was perfectly clear. Amazing!
I went to see Pat Metheney last night at the beautiful art-deco Gilloiz theater in Springfield. Amazing talent in a wonderful atmosphere! He was performing tunes from his catalog over the last fifty years and mentioned some of his favorites were those he wrote with bassist Charlie Haden, specifically from the album, “Beyond The Missouri Sky”. Some of you may know that he is from Lee's Summit near Kansas City, but Charlie was raised right here in our farm house, and yodeled in his family's Ozark hillbilly band, that did live radio shows from the living room with other locals from the era like Maybelle Carter.
Playing one of the most renowed songs sung every year on the eve and beginning of the new year, Auld Lang Syne”, a Scottish phrase meaning "old long since," or "for old time's sake”. Happy New Year and thank you for watching!

This is a solo fiddle rendition of “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”. I’m using a technique called doublestops which is playing two notes simultaneously at the same time, that often creates a drone similar to bagpipes or a medieval hurdy-gurdy, and is used all the time in old time fiddle music or bluegrass. I hope you enjoy it. Merry Christmas! 🎻🎄 https://youtu.be/nUEnimaREyU
Every week I get a report from Apple Music that shows where my music has streamed around the world. One of the things I find interesting is the Shazam list which is a way for a listener to see the title and artist. This week a listener in Surabaya, Indonesia Shazammed “Breath Of Life” and another in Milan, Italy Shazammed “Wind, Water and Light”. Sometimes cities or songs are consistent but I like when it varies, if I’m unfamiliar with a city I’ll read about it which can be fascinating and eye opening at the same time. If you’re interested, this is preview on Apple, they’re also on Spotify and Pandora too.
