Our SWPA president Tara Pfund, PharmD is running for WSPA President-Elect and some of you may have had the pleasure to work/interact with her during your career. For those who haven't yet, here is a bit about herself:

Tara is passionate about innovating and evaluating various mechanisms to optimize collaboration and reimbursement avenues between providers, payors, patients and pharmacist providers, including arrangement of alternative payment models for services and programs provided by pharmacists. Tara has dedicated her career to progressing the pharmacy progression in her various executive roles within independent pharmacies, healthcare technology and a national grocer chain. She has been actively involved with inspiring engagement with professional associations, fostering interprofessional collaboration, and advancing the pharmacy profession.

We would also like to take a moment to introduce our speaker for that upcoming discussion:

Dr. Jenny Wong is a pharmacist who specialized in cardiovascular medicines. She was a critical care pharmacist who managed complex patients with acute coronary diseases, advanced heart failure, renal diseases, and cardiac transplantation at the University of Washington Medical Center. In addition, Jenny also holds a clinical assistant professor position at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. After decade of clinical practice, she has joined the Medical Affair team at AstraZeneca in the Cardiovascular and Renal therapeutic areas to improve patient care in a population health level. Her goals are to reduce the burden of heart failure and chronic kidney disease in the community through collaboration with providers/organizations and to improve guideline directed medical therapy in these patient populations

We are gearing back up and are currently seeking a Technician to join our officer board. We are holding elections for the 2023-2025 Technician Officer Position. This is a rewarding way to give back to the profession, continue to advance technicians roles, and gain experience and inspiration promoting change.

Responsibilities will include:
- Attend monthly meetings with the Southwest Washington Pharmacy Association (SWPA) leadership team.
- Advocacy work related to pharmacy technician scope of practice, work conditions, salary, etc. on behalf of pharmacy technicians licensed in Washington State in partnership with the Washington State Pharmacy Association
- Actively assist with the SWPA on ongoing pharmacy technician related projects.
- Oversee SWPA Raffle basket
- Attend and represent SWPA at local networking events, CE meetings and community outreach events
