Folk N Funky
Folk N Funky is an unusual name, not your typical home decor name. The market experts say to create a niche, one style or product and push it, WHAT? That may work for some and many have made millions doing so. FolkNFunky wasnāt driven by one style or product. It was driven by the love of design and inspiration. Itās also driven by mood, I will go in a streak of loving vivid colors, and things that donāt make sense. The hippie swirls design is a true example of that, and yet its been loved by hundreds of people and the curtains hang in homes around the world. Some days the mood to create is pastels, pink, floral , the softer side of me. Then of course thereās days that say hey, lets try the common stuff , just do normal stuff everyone will like (those days are less common I suppose) . I love so much stuff, boho, mid century, anime, rustic, nautical, adventure, the colors in the Day of the Dead and Mexican art. If you see the Gothic skulls, these were designs requested by customers, I have nothing against the style itself, but it maybe lacks the color I crave when designing, or I havenāt found myself in a gothic mood.
My time in collage was spent in traditional art classes and writing. Of course my hand couldnāt paint the way my brain was telling it to (total lack of communication between the two). I wasnt going to create a masterpiece ! So life took me on a traditional course of family and a normal job, the artist inside settled in for a long nap.
Then life took an unpleasant path and the normal job was no longer an option, and retirement at an early age was a decision made by health reasons.
One wonderful day my youngest son showed me how to do some graphic art, and then I learned about this company in the United States who could put my designs on home decor products, I had found my piece of heaven on earth, I was doing what I loved.
