Porto Pianofest

Porto Pianofest 2024 9th edition is over!
There were 12 days of the festival, presenting 18 concerts by 28 musicians, including 11 artist debuts in Portugal this year- and 6 previously premiered by us. We had more than 2200 spectators at our concerts, the largest attendance ever, spread across 11 concert spaces. We had 3 conferences, piano masterclasses, post-concert receptions, absolute premieres, family concerts and more.

A huge thank you to our artists, Yosvany Terry , Yunior Terry , Baptiste Trotignon , Julian Miltenberger, Nuno Marques Lara Martins, Raquel Costa , Mariel Mayz Jose Ramon Mendez , Lisa Yui Trio Pangea , Evan Shinners (WTFBach), Beatrice Berrut.

Porto Pianofest 2024 ended in the most magical way with BEATRICE BERRUT at the breathtaking Palácio da Bolsa!
There were transcriptions and compositions by the performer herself in a fantastical program that included The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, the Firebird Suite, and Adagietto from Mahler’s 5th Symphony.
Alvarinho wine from Soalheiro was just the cherry on top of an amazing, SOLD OUT closing event!berrut

BACH NO JARDIM with pianist EVAN SHINNERS was an unforgettable evening! Surrounded by a sunset view of the Arrábida bridge, the sea breeze, and tall trees of the park, we had 300 people enjoying the music of J.S. Bach together.

What an informative and exciting conference with Dr. Oscar Colomina I Bosch about Beethoven's Op.109 Sonata! His talk entitled "Splitting Time" brought insight to the world of musical analysis and how deeper compositional understanding can be used as a tool for making interpretive choices.

Incredible music and some of the best port wine came together for our third concert at the Rectory of the University of Porto this week with pianist, pedagogue, and scholar LISA YUI.
What a beautiful performance of Schubert, Qigong Chen, Liszt, and Debussy; with commentary from Dr. Yui for everyone to enjoy.

We had so much fun on Saturday morning during our CONCERT FOR FAMILIES, with an amazing collaboration with pianist Mariel Mayz, and author-illustrator Raquel Costa. Live drawing with excerpts from Costa's new book "25 Mulheres" was accompanied by musical selections from Mayz for a fun multi-sensory event for all ages!

What an amazing day it was on Tuesday for our annual PPF Piano Marathon at the Mercado do Bolhão!
For 8 nonstop hours, there was music of all types— classical, jazz, pop, solo piano, string duets, singers, young musicians from local conservatories, passersby, and more! Thank you Yamaha Pianos , Mercado do Bolhão , all the participants and spectators.
