Pen of Praise: Blog & Books by Rachel Windham
BUILDING FAITH IN FAMILIES...ONE WORD AT A TIME. Blogging and offering books, cards, specialty items, and events that educate and inspire.
If you’re looking for a daily devotional for the new year, this is the one. These last 365 days I have been challenged to love others like I’ve never loved before. I’m not where I want to be in that area, but I have an awakened optimism about how big my love can be when I choose to love like Jesus did. These one-page thoughts are incredibly well-crafted, delivering a powerful punch with an inspiration that leaves you hungry for more and a desire to change.
This book offers sound advice for making practical choices that enable us to become the individuals we want to be. I just finished it, and I think it’s a good book to read as the new year approaches and goal-setting is often on our minds.
What a blessing to belong to such a personal, thoughtful church. Tonight, ministry volunteers were served by church staff at the Difference Makers’ Appreciation Dinner. Thank you for a fun evening. The food was delicious. The decorations were phenomenal. The appreciation letters were truly touching (as well as beautifully written). The entertainment, well, it was very entertaining. I have definitely never milked a cow like the one I milked tonight! Lol!

Sometimes our fear of the unknown can keep us from diving into the deeper things of God. Today, let’s let our faith in HIM give us the courage to take the plunge.
I’m so thankful God gives us above and beyond what we could ask or think (Eph.3:20), even concerning things in this life. As a twenty-year-old, I didn’t know what I needed in a relationship. I couldn’t look down life’s road and see the kind of person that’d fit beside me on life’s path through joys and trials. But God knew. He brought into my life the person I would marry, the person who would help me become who God saw I could be, the person who’d be my perfect balance, the one who’d love me best and bless me the most.
God gave me a gift I didn’t deserve and a treasure I didn’t know existed when He gave me you, Eddie. Thank you for being my above and beyond. Thank you for 32 beautiful years of marriage. Happy anniversary!

This morning as I read “I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands” (Psalm 119:175-176, NLT), I was reminded of an old Hemphills’ song I sang as a kid. I didn’t know then the truth of those words like I do now. No matter how far away from God you go, you can trust His promises. He’s with you. He’s for you (Psalm 139). He’s seeking to save the lost (Luke 19:10). It’s not His will for you to perish, rather for you to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). YOU might wake up one day wondering how in the world you drifted to where you are, but GOD is not surprised. He’s loved you all along. “His faithful love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1, NLT).
To see the words to the song “I Know You Would” go to this link. There’s also a woman singing it in a video at the bottom of the page.

Reading in the NLT, and I discovered a new verse to add to my collection of favorites.
Happy Independence Day, friends! May today be a day you enjoy the freedom of abundant life in Jesus and the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness this nation affords.
This reminds me of our midweek service: We must let go of the old if we want to experience the new. Worship moves us forward, and as we move forward, we break loose of what we we’ve been tethered to.
A big THANK YOU for all the positive feedback on this book!
Anytime I put something out there, I wonder if my writing conveys the words of my heart. Your affirmation, reviews, and recommendations mean the world to me. Thank you!
This book was a solid reminder to live out priorities with God at the top. “Up-level from good to better to best” and “delay until you pray” were two points I really needed to hear. The method of jotting priorities on paper and praying about how and when to accomplish the important things God has entrusted to us each day was a simple and practical suggestion the author gave for taming the daily to-do list. I have found it to be quite useful. Because a chunk of the book deals with being a wife and mother, I think this book would be especially appealing to young women who are interested in marriage and family.
When you finally release your own book, you treat yourself to someone else’s writing. This compelling story about a woman who must face her past while dealing with menacing situations of the present is the second in a series by my friend, Kelly Leake. Check out her books on Amazon, and while you’re at it, grab a copy of my latest work, REJOICE!

“Where there is a radically apostalic transformation, there will always be radical release of demonstration and power.” Charles Robinette. This book tells about the Acts 2:17 fulfillment of God pouring out His Spirit in our day. This powerful message ignites a hunger for the deeper things of God.
