Aviation Safety Inspectors (ASIs) conduct highly technical work and occupy sensitive and authoritative positions as representatives of the GCAA and Ghana government. ASIs are chosen for their, technical expertise, superior judgment, and high ethical standards. The Safety Inspector’s job is to have safety oversight over all and every aspect of Civil
Aviation – aircraft, pilots, navigation equipmen
t, airports and what have you. Perform safety oversight functions over technical personnel (Pilots, Engineers, Cabin Crew, etc), Airports, Aviation Training Organizations and other aviation entities and equipment, e.g. aircraft, by ensuring that the minimum requirements for the above-mentioned technical personnel, entities and equipment are met.
2. Implement processes such as inspections and audits, on the various companies (local and foreign) to ensure that aviation licenses and certificates for facilities and equipment including but not limited to helipads, airport, base of operations, aircraft etc. meet the requirements stipulated by the regulations of the country.
3. Ensure that authorization and/or approval holders continue to meet the established requirements and function at the level of competency and safety required by the State to undertake an aviation related activity for which they have been authorized.
4. Provide technical guidance to all stakeholders of the aviation industry.
5. Recommend and implement processes and procedures to resolve identified deficiencies that affect the standards of defaulting aviation industry stakeholders.
6. Represent Ghana during international functions and seminars.
