Another amazing day - 78 degrees in November! Surprisingly after all the wind we had last week, there's still some pretty fall leaves..
Hillside in Yellow, 8x10" oil on linen...

October 30th and it's 78 degrees! I keep thinking that this day could be my last plein air painting day of 2024. Then the weather gets really warm again! .
I used a new type of board today from Jerry's - linen board with clear "gesso" - which might just be acrylic matte medium. It was really nice to work on and I loved the soft wheat color which I was tempted to leave showing in the sky area..
I had a lot of fun with this scene and really like how it turned out..
Blustery Fall Day, 8x10, oil on linen board..

What a great fall day!! I painted with Lynda at Coffman park along the little creek. I try to paint here at least once a season. I think the photo looks a bit too saturated..
8x10, oil on Yes! board. I used to use Yes! boards often but got away from them - glad to give them a try again. Nice surface..

Painted today with Rod at the old church yard at Home Rd and Rt 315, trying to capture the fall color before it's gone!.

My painting didn't work out, but the weather and views were pretty at Inniswood today.

Calling this done! Finished my last workshop painting at home today. Hard to paint using a photo of the instructor's photo, which I projected on my computer screen ðŸĪŠ... pushing the colors a bit on this one..... Not for sale at this time....

Nice morning for plein air at Orange Twp Park. I used a painting knife for most of this one, instead of brushes..
Leaning Pine, 6x8", oil on hard.

Finished this painting today and since they always look better framed, popped it into these two just to see how it looked. .
Two Plums with Metal Vessel, 8x10", oil on board..

A grey moody day for plein air. Actually it was very comfortable to paint in even lighting and temperature..
My annual Goldenrod painting. I was using a very limited palette which you can see in the second photo..
Fields of Gold, 6x8", oil on oil primed hardboard..

Lovely fall day painting at Creekside. I really felt in the groove working on this one, using my intuition instead of matching the scene exactly. Fun! ..
Feeling Like Fall, 6x8", oil on oil primed hardboard...

My first plein air still life! Turned out a bit looser than my normal studio work, but I like it! Good memory of our last full day at the lake...

Perfect weather.

Not every piece is a winner! Art takes 'lotsa practice and study! And you have to be willing to let go of the losers...
Continuing with my 2024 "spring" cleaning. Here are 88 unfinished, or poorly done paintings. 48 of them in the bucket are going in the trash 🗑ïļðŸ˜”, while the 40 on top might be primed over for reuse. There is another bucket of paintings not shown that might be successful with a little bit of work. ðŸĪ“

This poor sunflower is finally done. I've been working on it for several days and it's been a real struggle. The camera is even having troubles getting a good shot of the painting. Hopefully it looks better in person!
Single Sunflower, oil, 10" x 8" on linen panel.

Finally finished my "art storage" walls. Nice to see them all in one place. Someday soon, I'll update the webpage with the more recent paintings.

The sunflower heads are so heavy (although pretty small) that one cracked its stalk and I had to bring it inside. I had to prop up the other two 😁

This pear said, "you'd better paint me today, ' cause I'm on my way out" 🙃.
I did take some photos of other views, so I can paint it again later on...
Red Pear, 10" x 8", oil on Claessens linen...

When you plant a handful of giant sunflower seeds, you end up with only 3 stalks due to chipmunks ðŸĪĶ. Been waiting for these to bloom and finally.... this tiny seed head ðŸŒŧ is out. 😄 I hope the other two are larger so I can paint them.

Last week our show in Mt Vernon came down, so I needed to store the paintings that came back home. I like to store framed art on the wall - so much easier than stacking in a corner - I can walk in and see everything in one place! The morning light today was perfect to do some photography and then rearrange and add to the landscape hanging wall in my upstairs guest room. Thankful for the cooler weather to do this...
There are many other paintings still waiting for an event that haven't been framed yet. And the wall to the right of this scene will have all still life paintings hung soon. All this is helpful to me because I need to update my webpage - another big job 😎!..

Finally got the studio set up for working on still life for the winter ( yes! I'm tired of 90 degree weather!)..
Finished this garlic bulb painting on Claessens linen today (love working on linen!)..

More varnishing! So satisfying.... Why did I wait so long? Brings back memories of painting these, mostly plein air ðŸĨ°..@...
Quick video of my exhibit!
As soon as the sun hit it this morning, it began raining leaves. Won't take long until all are on the ground. 🍁🍂🍃ðŸŒŋ
Those times when you hit Video instead of Photo. Had to laugh hearing my comment ðŸĪĢ
Just wanted to paint pears and cherries today!
Had a great day today. Drove north an hour to paint with Donna. Perfect weather. Where I set up, I watched frogs, thrash...
