I'm very excited and grateful to have been voted Best Local Photographer for Lake county. I can't thank everyone enough for their votes and it means a lot to me! Please contact me for any of your photography needs; my social media is primarily focused on my landscapes but I also offer photography and videography for real estate, business/products, and occasionally, portraits.

Waterfalls are one of my favorite subjects to photography. I love being able to convey a sense of movement in a photo and it's easy to do with waterfalls. There are several falls along this section of the north fork of the Jocko River and you could spend hours here exploring the different falls.

My favorite horse on Wild Horse Island is this painted guy. He's the only male of the group and seems to have the goofiest personality. He's always lagging behind the group, then comes trotting up behind everyone 5 minutes later, wondering where everyone went (much like my own son!). I caught him scratching his belly on a sign post and he really seemed to be enjoying it!

I can't think of any place in the world I'd rather be than out on Flathead Lake...

28/05/2024

Just sold a 16x24 canvas print of this photo to a lucky couple...it's one of my favorite spots along the Flathead River. It was one of those rare nights where the conditions worked out perfectly; calm winds with just the right amount of clouds in the sky to reflect the fading sunlight. Nights like these are why I keep going out in search of the perfect sunset!

I've been busy lately...real estate shoots, trying to finish up my construction jobs before the kids get out of school, etc. It's a hard time of year to make time for landscape photography, which is unfortunate because it's one of the most beautiful times in Montana. Things are green, the balsam root are blooming, and the weather alternates between rain and sunshine which can result in some spectacular sunsets.

I can't wait for things to slow down a bit over the summer and spend evenings out on the lake at our favorite island. There is no better place on earth than Flathead Lake in the summer!

Stop in at the Sandpiper Art Gallery & Gifts this evening from 5-7 pm. Lots of great new art; there are some stunning pieces in this show! I've got a few new canvas prints with custom wooden frames up, so stop by and say hi!

I was dead tired Friday night after working all week and missed the Northern Lights. The forecast looked promising for Saturday night, so I grabbed my 9 year old son and we headed up to Glacier National Park to try and catch them. We sat around on the shore of Lake McDonald and around 10:30 the sky lit up...it was the most amazing display of the Northern Lights I've seen yet. Yeah, its not as bright as it shows up on camera but it was still amazing to see the greens, purples and magentas faintly dance across the sky. It only lasted about 15 minutes and I had never photographed them before so I was scrambling to adjust my camera settings and find a suitable composition. Luckily this one worked out.

We ended up hanging out til about 1am...my son passed out in his sleeping bag on around midnight while I was still gathering photos and had a great nap under the stars! We packed up as the lights weren't doing much anymore and got home around 2am or so...well worth the lack of sleep for such a great show! All in all it was a memorable night and has me hooked...I'll definitely be chasing the Northern Lights again this fall!

I recently made a trip to Arizona a few weeks ago hoping to catch the spring bloom in the desert. We were a little early but managed to catch some color above Bartlett Lake. Spring is a beautiful time to be in the desert!

It had been years since I had been up to the Mud Lakes in the Mission Mountains and I finally made it back this fall. After way too many switchbacks we finally arrived and the view was well worth the effort!

Landscapes are my primary focus but I've always loved nearly anything with a motor that you can drive/ride. Cars, motorcycles, boats, planes...I feel best when I'm riding or driving something. Trying to branch out a bit more in my photography and include some other subjects as well; portraits, vehicles, etc.

What do you think...are you here for the beautiful landscape shots or just cool photos in general? Let me know what you'd like to see...more variety or should I stick with the landscapes?

Fall colors this year at Glacier were amazing and I lucked out and caught them at the right time. Fall is a such a great time to visit Glacier. The summer crowds have (mostly) left, the weather is crisp and cool (great for hiking), and the colors are amazing!

I recently added a drone to my photography toolkit and I'm excited to get out and use it to add some unique perspectives. I love the color of the Flathead River and you can really capture it well from above. Turquoise blue crystal clear water contrasted against the pale rocky clay shores make for some beautiful scenes.

Often in the winter we get socked in under the fog in the Mission/Flathead Valley. It can get a little depressing but also gives you the opportunity to see some pretty amazing things if you can get high enough above it. This was taken up near Blacktail Mountain, a favorite ski local ski area. Thousands of years ago most of the valley was flooded by Lake Missoula; days like this give a glimpse of what that might have looked like!

Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving from our family! I took our family photos while we were down in Arizona and they turned out great! While I don't normally do portraits, I'm slowly warming up to the idea! This Thanksgiving I'm thankful for all the beautiful scenes I've gotten to capture this year and thankful for everyone that I've been able to share them with.

Who's missing summer already?! I know I'm missing calm summer evenings out on the lake. I love Flathead Lake, but Lake Pend Oreille is a close second (where this photo was taken).

13/11/2023

One of my favorite trees is the western larch, or tamarack. It's a deciduous pine tree whose needles turn bright yellow in the fall and then drop for winter. I caught these over looking the Mission Mountains and Flathead Lake last week.

I just finished hanging the last print for ...stop in and check them out! I know several of the realtors there and can't recommend them enough if you are looking to buy in the Flathead/Mission valley! And of course, if you're looking for new artwork for your space, I'd love to help!

It's hard to believe this was only about a month ago up in Glacier as it feels like winter has set in now. I was driving down the Going to the Sun road to my sunset photo location I had scouted earlier and noticed this, so I stopped and snapped a few photos. Can't pass up dramatic lighting like this!

06/11/2023

I managed to capture my two favorite cactus in one photo....the mighty saguaro and the "teddy bear" cholla!

03/11/2023

Warm nights in the desert....see if you can spot the random cow that wandered into my photo!!

I've been enjoying the sunshine and warm weather in Arizona and will have a lot of new photos to post soon! We spent an evening out at Lake Pleasant and had a lot of fun watching the "wild" donkeys.

25/10/2023

A lone palo verde stands against Superstition Mountain. I'm packing up to head to the desert for a week to visit family and hope to return with a bunch of new desert photos. I love photographing the desert because it is so different than the landscapes in Montana. Quiet, cool evenings in the desert are hard to beat!

Rabbitbrush blooms along the Flathead River during an early fall sunset. I love this spot on the river and family was able to time it right with the bloom and a nice sunset.
