🥳MacSoc are pleased to announce the return of SUMO!🥳

The Scottish Universities Mathematics Olympiad (SUMO) is an annual team competition, currently run by St Andrews University Mathematics Society (SUMS).
It aims to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as serve as a steppingstone for Scottish students to form meaningful connections due to a shared interest in mathematics.📊

All undergraduate students (regardless of year or department) are welcome to compete, as the problems are designed to be accessible with minimal background knowledge required.🤓
This year’s questions will be of a similar nature to those from British Maths Olympiad and Imperial College Mathematics Competition.📝

Hey everyone!

Are you interested in joining the MacSoc committee for the 22/23 academic year? Come along to our AGM this Friday to apply for a role!

Apologies for the very late notice but we wanted to make sure to do this in person before the end of semester. If you can’t make it on the day, please feel free to send us a message and you can run for a position on committee anyway.

If you read this post it describes each of the available roles, please message any of our socials if you are interested in going for a role, but don’t worry you can also decide on the day!

At the AGM you may have to give a little speech, nothing more than a minute, to say why you would be good for the role.

Although Roger comes from a Stats perspective, this event is open to anyone who feels a career in the civil service might suit them - there are opportunities for people from lots of different backgrounds!
