Acupuncture point of the week - K1

Acupuncture points are fascinating entities, we have several hundred of them on the body, and each one has its own personality.

Allow me to introduce you to the first point of the Kidney meridian:

涌泉yǒngquán, the Gushing Spring!

涌 yǒng = arise, spring out, pour, well up

泉 quán = source It is the entry point of the Kidney meridian, and the lowest in the entire body, located under the sole of the foot.

Despite this yīn location, its action is resolutely yáng and ascending.
It belongs to several categories:

Point 井 jǐng-well
Point 木 Wood
The jǐng-wells are great resuscitation points, their action is vigorous and revives the circulation of Qì like a whiplash.

They are placed at the extremities of the body, next to the nails (except for K1).

The Wood points carry within them the characteristics of this Phase: ascension, expansion, development, youth, enthusiasm, momentum, warming…

The Kidney is responsible for our development, our fertility, the quality of our aging... our arc of life in a way!

He is the guardian of the jīng (our Essence) which he stores.
It is our lower physiological fire.
Its first point is therefore, by its role as much as by its location, essential!
