The Cat Ball

I love the business I created. It’s so much work, but I’m proud of the innovative cat products I created and I love doing the work. I’m good at this.

SEAMEOW Con just wrapped up and it was a blast. I worked hard all weekend and had a successful show. It’s a relief to get home and sit down as I reflect on my accomplishments.

SEAMEOW Con is fun! I’ve got to stay here in my booth, and all day long I was treated to a fun fashion show where parents, kids, couples, cats (and one chihuahua) paraded by , wearing fabulous and creative outfits! I’m in love will all the fun looks you all have created!

I spent my day setting up my booth (more photos to follow) and look at the fun selfie photo booth they have set up. The bonus visiting flat cats are huge!

Why yes, it’s a sea of cats! A total wave of kitties, coming to overwhelm you because is this weekend in Seattle! And yes, I will be buying cat-themed t-shirts when I’m at SEAMEOW.

Cats are such incredible athletes! Tink makes these vertical leaps so perfectly, never getting stuck or moving the Cat Ball® cat bed. Can your cat do this?

At the end of a photo shoot I often put the Cat Ball® cat bed over Tink like this and get ready for the action shots. I’m now wondering if I have enough of these photos to make myself a 2025 calendar, the “12 months of escape” or something like that.

My husband wants you to know that the shark Cat Ball® cat bed was his idea: “Hey. Could you make it into a shark?” 🐈‍⬛ I thought about it for a day, then got my pattern making tools out. I sketched fin shapes, pinned design lines on a finished Cat Ball, trying to visualize how it would all go together, and then I started to experiment with the other design concerns: teeth and eyes. I’ve got photos of the first shark, just not here in my phone today, but this set gives you some idea of the behind the scenes of how our funniest version of the Cat Ball® cat bed came to be. 🐈‍⬛ We are working on more sharks now, and have a small number all ready to ship.

Here’s the thing: some cats figure the Cat Ball® cat bed out quickly, in fact I’ve heard about cats who were trying get into their new bed before the human could finish unpacking it; those kitties understand the incredible napping potential this bed provides! 🐈‍⬛

But every now and then someone reaches out because their cat isn’t using the bed. We do offer a generous window for returns because we’ve learned that some cats just need an adjustment period. We’ve also learned that there are some things you can do to help your cat to understand, adjust, and to feel safe inside their new Cat Ball® cat bed.

(Note: these tips and tricks would probably help with any new cat bed. For example, where you place a cat bed or furniture is always going to be important.)

Have you ever dropped your Cat Ball® cat bed over your cat like I did here? I’ve got a whole series of photos of Tink leaping out now, and she always makes this fantastic leap! It looks effortless and then she’s just out and walks away. Go Tink, go!

I need your help!
We just finished making these Cat Ball® cat beds, and I don't know what to name them. I'm not even sure how to describe them. Help me!
The fabrics are a collection by Andover called "Oracle" and if you look closely you can see an "oracle eye", and one of the flowers is a lotus blossom.

Behind the Scenes at The Cat Ball World Headquarters! Tink is wandering around, looking confused.

I promise that I will wear this fantastic cat shirt every month of the year. Total promise.

Who is busy being a cat model? Tink is! I’ve got so many cat beds to photograph, and little Tink shows up every time I turn the lights on. This is MeowMix, and a story about crows.
I like feeding crows, and in the morning they hang out near my house, waiting for me to come out and feed them. Tink stopped eating MeowMix, so I started giving it to the crows. 🐦‍⬛ They almost always leave one color behind! Whatever that flavor is, they aren’t into it. 😂

Who has a cat shirt? I haz a cat shirt, and everyone was enjoying this one. I love buying artist-designed shirts.

Tink explores our new Cat Ball® cat bed made with a cotton fabric cleverly printed to look like burlap. We used the same fabric inside and out for this bed, and the seams are finished with a contrasting bias trim. 🐈‍⬛ Our hexagonal Cat Ball® cat bed is made with fabric over foam panels, and our original designs are sewn here in the state of Washington.

I woke up, and knowing today was going to be an outstanding day, I selected this funny meme of a cat shirt. 🐈‍⬛👕 Uptight fashion folks will be relieved to also learn I did not put my pants on backwards 😂

True story about cat shirts: my husband was diagnosed with leukemia (he lived, yay! That’s not the story) so for about two intense years I focused on his needs and my business. But after he was more stable, I realized I needed to get a part time job. I landed at a Costco and now am working at the Pharmacy as a cashier, and I wear a cat shirt almost every day. Once a pharmacy tech named Michelle looked at me as she was counting g gabapentin and said, “What? Do you wear a cat shirt every day? 🐈 “Yeah, pretty much” (knowing I do have a shirt with a joke about misspelling too) 🤪 Her question made me realize I now had an excuse to run back to the funny-as-eff store I’d seen on Etsy and I got this freaking hilarious wolf shirt. It’s subtle: can you see the joke?
