23/11/2023 **UPDATE** Thank you to a good majority of you all for your positive comments about the animals you have rescued and telling us about the wonderful life they lead, but sadly due to roughly 10% of negative comments and the overwhelming number of comments in general which our Admins would love to get back to you personally about but it is just not feasible to do as there is so much more they need to do we have limited the commenting volume on this post.

Thank you once again for your support and for being the voice for the voiceless 🙏

This poem always brings tears to our eyes and an ache to our heart with feeling their pain😿

This is a poem for all animals not just cats and it is female animals as well as male animals it is not our intention to upset the members of the public or to point the finger at those members of society that have sadly circumstances for eg where a person has passed away or gone into a nursing home but very sadly those members of the public fall into the minority and this pertains to all animals that are callously dumped into pounds, left abandoned to fend for themselves etc, etc.

IS THERE ANYONE IN NY WHO CAN HELP? PLEASE!!!

PLEASE Help save this cat! A volunteer spent two hours in Brooklyn trying to reason with a very mentally unstable man who claims to be putting himself and his cat on a starvation diet and is very aggressive screaming at all people and refusing to let his skeletal starving cat eat! The police were called but only made him move... the neighbors say he is there everyday urinating in public and other antisocial behavior. When the cat went crazy trying to get at the food offered he je**ed it away violently. I don't have a clue of how to save this cat - please help with any ideas. THANK YOU.

JACKSONVILLE FL

My review of the new Pure VET ER

A few weeks ago, we arrived with a cat we suspected had severe constipation. He was straining. Was throwing up. Not eating. Tried to p**p in odd places. The relief vet just wanted to do bloodworks but did an xray at my request. Didn't see anything on the xrays. Dismissed my feeling that it was constipation and sent us home with antibiotics for a possible infection. The next day, no improvement. He was still not eating so we took him to another ER. They did an ultrasound, diagnosed him with obstipation (severe constipation) and loss of intestinal motility. He had to stay in the ICU for 2 days with fluids and meds to unblock him. Today, he had a second set of xrays at our regular vet and was officially diagnosed with motility issues and megacolon. I called the PURE ER back a few days after he came back from his ICU stay. I talked to Dr Garcia, the clinic owner and stated his relief vet misdiagnosed our cat. He immediately became very defensive, argued the findings and the way the other ER diagnosed our cat. He stated he would call that ER (he used to work there as an anesthesiologist) and he would call me back. It's been weeks now. I have called him SIX times and left FOUR messages requesting a call back. He just will not return my call. Today, on my way back from our regular clinic, I tried calling one more time. As soon as she heard my name and my request to talk to him, the receptionist gave me an immediate and very snippy "he's busy" response. Translation? "wth are you calling us again? He's not going to talk to you. Get lost". Basically, he has no intention of talking to me and probably told her to get rid of me. It's a shame. We had a previous visit there with another cat and were so happy about finding a new ER that I had already told my vet and my rescue friends about them. Positive initial review but sadly negative final review. I guess we'll go back to the other ER clinics. Oh well.

Btw, I've been running a 501c non profit cat rescue for the last 16+ years so I have some experience with cat illnesses as well as a good basic understanding of symptoms. If I hadn't taken our cat to another ER, his intestinal track could have ruptured. His intestines would have become septic and he would have been in horrible pain and would have died. There is no coming back from sepsis. It's a death sentence. The relief vet was wrong and the main vet / clinic owner is refusing not only to take responsibility but he won't even address the issue or call me back. Would you want to trust someone like that with your pet's life when they need help the most? I know i don't. (Photo of our constipated boy with his daddy)

Cooler temperatures on our the horizon and soon it will be getting chilly out there! As nights get cooler, it's time to freshen up the bedding in your cat shelters so the kitties stay warm and cozy overnight. Should you use straw or hay?🤔 Always STRAW -- and here's why:

✅STRAW is tough, thick, dry leftover stalks from crops. It's lightweight and golden in color. Straw has a hollow center which makes for great insulation. Straw will reflect body heat back to a cat as well as repel moisture.

❎Hay is green and heavy. Hay is typically used to feed animals, like horses. It absorbs moisture, making it damp, cold and uncomfortable for cats and has the potential to get moldy. Do NOT use hay (or blankets) for bedding in outdoor cat shelters. It could freeze to the kitty's fur and possibly become a death sentence.

👉For an easy way to remember which to use…
"Hay is for Horses, Straw is for Strays."

You can easily find and buy bales of STRAW inexpensively at your local co-op, farm/ag supply store, local garden center/nursery, Home Depot, Lowe's, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware or local landscape supply. Farmers who sell pumpkins often sell bales of straw, too.

Thanks for keeping those outdoor kitties warm and comfortable!

The more you know...
This is what we refer to as a "train tunnel". When trying to get mama cat we use the kittens as bait. The kittens are placed in a carrier, a trap is set in front of it. The entire trap & carrier are covered in order that the mama can hear the kittens & has to go down the little tunnel to get to them. Works like a charm every time!
