Well done John Feely - Sinn Fรฉin

Last night at Council Sinn Fรฉin brought a motion calling for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine and Israel.

We also called for the provision of safe humanitarian corridors, for the international community to work towards a true and lasting peace settlement and for the Irish Government to immediately expel the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland.

03/11/2023

โ€œThe position of the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland is now untenable, the Ambassador should no longer enjoy diplomatic status in Ireland while Israel refuses the imperative for ceasefires and as the suffering and death toll grow.โ€

Public sector workers deserve fair pay and safe working conditions.

While one party continues to block the Assembly, savage Tory cuts have denied fair pay rises to workers in the public sector.

Sinn Fรฉin will continue to press the British government to deliver a fair deal for workers.

Thanks to Roads Service (DfI Riads) for doing this work on the Corramore Road. The road was in a shocking state and I've been lobbying on this for a very, very long time.

Unfortunately there are plenty of other roads in an equally bad state. I will continue lobbying for our rural roads.

There our serious budget constraints due to 13 years of cutbacks from the Tories at Westminster and one party in the north holding back the Assembly.

I have spoke to officers in the Council today in reference to the entrance of the Rusheen in Garrison.

It is important that access to the car park is returned as quickly as possible.

I have suggested to them that there may be no need for the grid to be replaced. A faster solution could be simply tarring the entrance.

I was a steward for FEAR23 today in Garrison. Well done to all the competitors, organisers and volunteers. Amazing job one and all.

FEARmanagh, Fermanagh Endurance Adventure Race, involves running, cycling and kayaking over a 74km or 35km course in the West Fermanagh area of the area.

Roads Service are replacing the street lights on the Glennasheevar Road which is to be commended.

Unfortunately there are not extending them as far out as before and a number of residents have complained to me about this.

I have contacted Roads Service a number of times on this and will continue to do so. They say the new lights will throw light out over greater distances.

I have doubts, due to the distance that it has to cover, and will continue to lobby on this issue. It is of great concern to the residents that have contacted me.

Alongside my Sinn Fรฉin colleagues I attended a very important information evening in Enniskillen yesterday on the draft All-island Strategic Rail Review. Thanks to the Into the West Rail Campaign for organising it.

The draft Review has completely excluded Fermanagh. It will be the only county in Ireland not connected to the rail network. This is totally unacceptable.

As many Fermanagh people as possible should give their views on the draft All-island Strategic Rail Review. The deadline is this Friday, 29th September, at 11:59pm.

Email [email protected] and let Minister Ryan in Dublin and the Permanent Secretary in Belfast know that Fermanagh can not be ignored.

Well done to Lakeland Community Care for running a great 'Winter Wise' event today at the Gillaroo Centre for older people in our area.

They brought different organisations and service providers to our doorstep to give people the chance to speak to them directly and get help and advice on a range of matters.

In a time where services in rural areas are very hard to access, this is especially welcome and, speaking to people there, I know this has been really worthwhile for people and it's great that our village halls are available to provide space to have events like these.

Well done to all at Lakeland Community Care, all of the organisations who came along including various Fermanagh and Omagh District Council departments and, Dawn and her team at the Bilberry Restaurant for feeding everyone so well.

A very well organised event ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

A fantastic event today in Pomeroy, bringing together the largest ever Sinn Fรฉin local government team in the North, to discuss how we can better the lives of workers, families and communities.

We are determined to work together with others in Councils to lead real, positive and progressive change.

To stand up for public services, attract investment, create jobs for our young people, and deliver a brighter, better future for all.

I attended the AGM of NILGA today. The NI Local Government Association (NILGA) is the councillor led representative body for local Councils in the north.

It was held at the Seamus Heaney Homeplace in Bellaghy. It's great to see councillors from all parties and none working together for all.

The Assembly must follow suit. One party can not be allowed to stop progress.

At the Geopark Committee AGM earlier today I was proposed to be the Chair for the coming year. The Committee is made up of Councillors from Fermanagh & Omagh Council and Cavan Council.

Straddling the border between counties Fermanagh and Cavan, the Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark allows visitors to appreciate the best of what our unspoilt region has to offer.

The Geopark includes a wide variety of sites of interest in extending from the northern shores of Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh to the southern shores of Lough Oughter in County Cavan.

Went to see Christy Moore last night. It was my first time to see him live and he didn't disappoint.

He was very good and even sang a few political songs including Viva La Quinte Brigada and No Time for Love(if they come in the morning).

NIEA reverted to Officers earlier this evening to confirm that their analysis has shown the presence of โ€˜blue green algaeโ€™ of the genus Microcystis sp. and Anabaena sp. in the water as well as colonies of Oscillatoria sp. within decomposed material on the shoreline. All three genus of algae can produce toxins that are harmful to humans and often fatal to pets if ingested. NIEA are to issue a press release on the results. Updated signage will be installed in the area highlighting precautionary actions that should be taken.

Please continue to be safe around Lough Melvin

โ™ป๏ธGarrison Recycling Centre will be closed on Tuesday 06 June 2023. Recycling facilities will be available at Drummee.

Got this reply from council officers today. Will keep yous updated.

Keep all dogs and children away from the lake until this gets sorted.

02/06/2023

Vets in the Fermanagh area have had a number of dogs seriously ill after swimming in Lough Melvin over the past 48 hours.

The cause of this may be toxic blue green algae, combined with high body temperatures due to the weather, and then entering the water leading to shock.

Please do not bring your dogs swimming in stagnant lake waters! We will update you if we get any further information.

02/06/2023

Keep your dogs on leads and away from the water and shore line .
