Season 2 is in full swing at West Rise Basketball. It's good to see teams playing top basketball and new players joining teams and making friendships. Our coaches are amazing and we are grateful to you all for making our competition a great one!
Good luck Connor on your new venture and thanks for you contribution to West Rise Basketball!
Hi West Risers!
Hope you are having a lovely break from basketball and welcome to a new season which starts next Wednesday 17th July. Note: Rebels and Suns have the first bye.
There are a couple of changes this season.
Firstly, KDBA no longer has a person on the door to collect game money of $10. Everyone will now need to pay $10 cash directly to us at West Rise on Court 5. We can give a receipt if needed. All other teams who play at KDBA have to pay by credit card and some pay their game fee in advance. Because a number of our players do not have credit cards, we have to all pay by cash. I can still do invoices for fees ($70) and game fee ($10).
Secondly, we have to put up our season fee to $70 per season because of KDBA has put up their fees. I am sorry for any inconvenience.

Congratulations to Lochlan Fennel for MVP for the season and well done Zac Aquio for winning grand final MVP.
Big thanks to all our WRO coaches and players. We will see you back on 17th July!
In a top class game, Hawks defeated Rebels. Players in both teams put on their best skills and were a credit to their coaches, Kyron and Connor and Brayden.
Tom won Grand Final MVP and Brendon won season MVP.
Well done everyone and thanks to all the wonderful coaches in all our teams.
See you back on 17th July!

Thanks to Daniel, South Side Coach and congrats to Greg S, Bendigo coach.
Steve Hood has been coaching at West Rise for a few years, but is leaving at the end of this season. Thanks Steve for all your valuable help with West Rise!

In Div 1, Rebels will play Hawks at 7pm on Court 2.
All the best to both teams!
Two finals games were held in Div 1 and would you believe both games had 1 point margins with Rebels winning by 1 point and Hawks winning by 1 point!
It shows how close our teams are and with so much talent!
Thanks Hayden and Emily for coaching this season and good luck to Rebels - coaches Brayden and Connor and Hawks coaches Kyron and Steve who will play off in the grand final!
Exciting close games were held at West Rise last night with Suns winning the Div 2 game by 1 point! Suns have improved over the last couple of weeks but have just missed out on the grand final.
Nationals and Rebels play in the grand final on Wednesday 26th June at 6pm on Court 4.
Good luck to you all!

Ryan Grant represented WA in the Surf Lifesaving Championships in Queensland last week and won 6 gold medals!
He's a handy person to go to the beach with!
Congratulations Ryan! You certainly are a champion!
Hi everyone,
Just received some more photos from the Everyone's Game Carnival and thought I would put them up.
Thanks to our players who filled in for other teams - Izzy, Emily, Ben and Verity!
See you all on Wednesday 17th April!

Hi West Risers!
One of our amazing basketball players, Chris Johnstone has been selected to run in the Final Leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run in Torino, Italy for the Special Olympics Winter Games in 2025.
Chris was the only athlete selected in Australia! How amazing is that!
So proud of Chris - he coaches and plays at West Rise. Best of all he is a terrific young man!!
Good morning West Siders,
We hope you're having a great holiday break.
Just a reminder that we return to basketball on Wednesday 17th April - except for bye teams Hawks and Nationals.
We look forward to seeing you on 17th!
From Chris and fantastic Coaches - Kyron, Steve, Greg J, Greg S, Chris J, Daniel, Hayden, Mike, Peter, Emily, Brayden, Aaden, Kellee, Zac, Myles and Sarah
PS It sure is windy up Ray Owen way!
Proud of West Rise player's at today's Everyone's Game Carnival. Love the way you are caring and terrific and also great basketball players!
Thank you to Emily, Izzy and Ben who helped out another team who were short of players.
Verity helped out in a Division 2 team - that girl has such a big heart!
That was a terrific thing to do!
Great job coaching Greg! Thanks for your big help!
You are all pretty wonderful! See you Wednesday!
PS We missed the lovely Theresa Sutton today!
West Rise Playing On Courts 5 & 6
Because we have a large group of players and spectators at basketball, Kalamunda & District Basketball Assoc have suggested that we now play on Courts 5 & 6.
As from this week, we will give it a try and I am attaching the new fixtures. Bye teams are Lions and Suns.
The new fixtures with court changes on. https://www.playhq.com/basketball-wa/org/kalamunda-and-districts-basketball-association/399bc881
Our Division 1 and West Rise Open games were exciting on Wednesday night with most games being quite close.
Great to see the players improving every week! Well done West Risers!
Hello West Risers! This is our 4th week of basketball and it's great to see players back and playing some good basketball!
We are all volunteers at West Rise and as with every basketball competition, each team needs to supply a person to sit on the score bench each week. It is a parent/support worker role. Everyone needs to have a go at this as it is unfair to leave it to the same people. I can do a roster for score bench scores if that is convenient for you all. Let me know what you think.
Have a great rest of your week and we'll see you Wednesday!
Hi everyone,
I hope you had a great basketball break and are raring to go when we start next Wednesday 7th February!
I have sent out your registration information by email, so could you please make sure you register soon. It is free - you use the code to avoid payment.
Rebels and Suns have a bye, but for everyone else, see you next Wednesday!
High Wycombe Football Club is looking for anyone who may be interested in coaching an all abilities football team for the 2024 season.
The current coaches are retiring so putting out some feelers early so you may have some time to come meet the current coaches and team and to see how we work. They are an awesome bunch of players who have a huge passion for playing football.
A coach and assistant coach is needed, so if you or you know anyone interested please contact the High Wycombe Football Club or leave a message on this page so we can pass it on.
Thank you.
Hello West Risers! Tyson from Kalamunda & District Basketball Assoc took some photos of our players on Grand Final Night. Thank you Tyson Lumbaca!
West Rise Basketball entered 2 teams in the Everyone's Game Carnival today where they were celebrating International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
Big thanks to Theresa Sutton who organised the teams and made sure everything ran smoothly - an amazing lady!
Thanks also to Rhys Leahy and Ricky Chittlebrough who coached the teams. You guys were fantastic.
Good luck to everyone at today's carnival and big thanks to Theresa Sutton who is our chief organiser for the day! She's worth her weight in gold at West Rise!
A top class game was held on Wednesday night between South Side and North Side, with South Side coming out winners. North Side were missing their coach, Greg Johnstone, who was ill, so Stuart Ainsworth stepped in and did a great job coaching the boys, but it wasn't their night!
Congratulations South Side team and coach, Daniel Verity.
West Rise had it's last games for the year with grand finals being played in 3 divisions.
Firstly Suns & Rockets played in Division 2. It was a hard fought out game with Aaden Griffiths using his best tactics try to win the game. Kellee Thomas was rousing her team too, finally winning by 1 point! Well done Kelly and Suns!
Keaneu Pinder and Ben Henshall from the Wildcats surprised the players by presenting them with Wildcats guernseys at half time.
Division 1 played the next game, with East Side versing Lions and East Side managing the win by 4 points. Emily Casella coached her best, getting her Lions players to play defense, but Peter Taplin's East Side team managed to hold on for the win.
Afterwards we had our presentation and pizza night (courtesy of Forrestfield Community (Bendigo) Bank)
A big thank you to Suns (Kalamunda & District Basketball Assoc) for donating medals for our players. Coaches presented the medals.
