The High Spirit Project
Raising perinatal mental health awareness and offering support, positivity and motivation
After so many people have written about their experiences around mental health issues I've decided to do an in-depth post all about my experience with postnatal depression. Apologies for the essay, I've been the most open and honest as I've ever been which is a scary feeling but I hope it raises some awareness around perinatal issues!

Completely and utterly in love with this book. Perfectly written.
My Friday & 3rd book of the week. Told myself I needed to start reading again and now I can’t stop 💭
Relax.. Think.. and take on one thing at a time. 🖤
I really want to help normalise PND and perinatal issues as it’s something that I struggled with. So head over to my twitter page where I’ll be using hashtag to raise some awareness 👶🏻💭

I touched on this a couple of days ago but SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder is something that affects approximately one in 15 people in the UK. This time of year is spoken about with so much excitement as the festive period really kicks in however, for some it’s the worst time of year due to the change in moods and general well-being .
•I am not a medical expert and this project is purely here to raise awareness therefore, I have only listed a few common symptoms. You can find more on the NHS website if you feel that you are suffering with SAD.
•There are lots of ways to relieve the symptoms so please seek support and don’t suffer during these colder months. Stay safe and reach out ❄️🙏🏻
• Male su***de •
This is something that needs to be spoken about more but many people have been working desperately hard to raise awareness on. One lady in particular who I’ve been following for such a long time (before I even started this project) is doing exactly that. .slack has put her all into raising awareness and her Tedx talk all about Male su***de is incredibly powerful, so please watch - link is in her bio. If you’re feeling like there’s no way out or know somebody who is please reach out and get support. If we can change the way we think about Mental Health we could change a life 💚
• POSTNATAL DEPRESSION •
I know I’ve posted a fair bit tonight but I have to share this picture I’ve come across whilst researching mental health statistics. PND is the reason I created this project so it’s something I feel so strongly about. It’s not talked about enough but we can all change that. If you’re feeling low please tell someone. This project is always open to assist those who would like to seek support but are unsure how. 💚.
If you’re experiencing any mental health issues please seek help/support today. There are so many organisations, charities and people out there who can talk and listen. Don’t be afraid to reach out, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

When we feel like we’re in the darkest stage we can still find strength to power through and find light 🌾
Is anyone else ridiculously excited for Christmas? I just absolutely love this time of year. Although the festivities and cosy evenings are great, for some people it can be the time of year that takes its toll on their mental health the most. ‘Seasonal Affective Disorder’ aka SAD is so common and can really effect us. If you think you’re experiencing low moods during this time of year definitely seek some support 💫
Hello!
I’m back to work today after a wonderful weekend in Berlin. It’s officially my new favourite city and I wish I could’ve stayed there (if my little one was there too). What’s everyone been up to? 😊
Good morning!
It’s only 3 weeks until World Mental Health Day 2018 (Wednesday 10th October) - let’s get talking about Mental Health. If you’d like to write for The High Spirit Project Blog please do message me. The more posts the better in order to raise awareness and end the stigma! Remember you’re not alone, let’s support each other 💚
Michelle has bravely shared her story surrounding battling agoraphobia and how it has effected her life. A very honest, warm blog post which raises awareness around this mental illness. Please read and share her story. Let’s start talking about Mental Health and supporting each other.
Thank you Michelle 💚
Living with Agoraphobia 4 years ago the term mental illness meant hearing voices, being crazy, and the last thing I ever thought I’d experience for myself. In the space of 3 months I’d
Do you ever feel like it’s one thing after the other? Nothing else could possibly go wrong, surely? Well that’s exactly how I’m feeling at the moment. I know this project is supposed to promote happiness and positivity but I also want it to be honest and real. At times it’s really hard to channel negativity into positivity when there’s so many things that seem to be going wrong. The only way I can make myself feel better is to incorporate some self-care and self-awareness and remind myself that a bad day/s doesn’t mean a bad life.
THERAPY TO POSITIVITY
Thank you so much to Candy who has bravely shared her story around therapy, hitting rock bottom and how she turned the negative aspects of her life into positivity. A very inspiring and uplifting read. Please support, read and share Candy's story. Let's get talking about mental health, the struggles but also positive outcomes and hope!

Good evening! Apologies for the lack of activity on here, I've recently come back from holiday and life has just been manic. I'm so happy to say that I'm back into the swing of things and new content will be posted frequently :)
• Your Stories •
We now have a section on the website where there will be personal stories uploaded every week to raise mental health awareness. I have been overwhelmed by all of the messages of such brave individuals writing their stories, so thank you so much.
Laura has shared her story all about battling anxiety and depression, so please give it a read on the link below.
I’m currently on holiday for two weeks but if you’d like to be involved and write a piece for The High Spirit Project, please message me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. 💫

Just finished my first Happiness Workshop and I’m so pleased with how it went. Received great feedback and really enjoyed myself. Can’t wait for The High Spirit Happiness Cafe on Friday! 😃
Would anyone be interested in writing a piece around Mental Health to feature in ? I’m looking for real, raw content to raise awareness of different issues and the best way to do this is by others explaining their experience. It can be completely anonymous if you’d like. Please message me if interested 😊
